At the 99th Annual NAACP Convention, Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama gives a tough talk speech on responsibility. Obama tells the NAACP that we as blacks must look inward and that while much around us is crumbling to some degree, we must now more than ever look to take more responsibility in our own communities and homes. Obama went on to say that our economy can be saved again and that the NAACP can help in restoring America but we must first take full responsibility of the future that we want to have in America.
Obama told a crowd filled with youth that all change in America started with youth and that as youth they should begin to start to take responsibility of their own communities and they should start making progressive changes in order to make America better. Obama said that his tough talk will not stop and that his message to the African American community will be about us as blacks stop whining about who hasn't done anything but more about us taking the proper steps to make our country, our communities and our households truly a place that we will always be proud of no matter what.
Obama spoke on social justice and how it is not enough but social justice combined with economic justice as well as personal responsibility is what will make us as Americans better. Obama really spoke to the crowd in a way that many who were there loved the message and he spoke about how far the NAACP has come and how far the NAACP can help America to continue to grow. It was truly a speech that many needed to hear and that hopefully those involved in the NAACP will take heed to as the new CEO of the NAACP begins to make his mark on the organization. The NAACP reshaping its message to deal with the current problems that we face today in the black community and in America is the only way that we can reshape and rebuild our nation so that our economy is prosperous and our people who come from our walks of life and all colors are prosperous.
