Urban Terrorism is greater now than it has ever been especially on Chicago's south side. While many youth live in fear all across America, it is more evident that in Chicago that if you wear the wrong color, you could end of dead before you leave your front porch. With shootings taking place at this year's Taste of Chicago, it makes many residents in Chicago weary of even going to the Taste. Nonetheless, what is taking place is clearly an example of how America's youth is under attack.
While many in America ignore the fact that more youth in Chicago this year alone to gun violence than in 2007, it is evident that many news outlets besides those in Chicago and Illinois are ignoring the violence that is spilling out all over the streets of Chicago. In an election year where one of the Presidential hopefuls is from the state of Illinois and the city of Chicago, it is hard for me to believe that he is the moral hero on black issues when in his own home city, many black youth are being killed to gun violence but he wants to speak on the issue of fatherhood and education but agrees with the Supreme Court's recent decision about the gun ban in Washington D.C. being unconstitutional.
So what is America's youth suppose to do as they are being attacked on every angle and no one has put out a good plan to save our youth. Now the shootings in Chicago are tragic but they are not the only examples of shootings that are plaguing our youth. I have heard stories all across America from New Jersey to Baltimore to Los Angeles that youth are being gunned down all across America. When will we see moral responsibility from our politicians to speak about how they plan to protect our youth and how the lack of police presence in many of the urban communities is a reason why crime and murder is the highest it has ever been in many cities especially youth crime and murder.
While parents are apart of the problem with the youth of America, parents don't get the entire blame when we have a governmental structure aimed at failing our youth on all fronts. Why should our youth stay in school when they are offered lucrative rap deals and see nothing but money, money, money flashed across the television screen, newspapers and magazines? Now if they don't see money than they see another youth dead in the streets so can you blame our youth for trying to get rich quick so that they can get out of the environment that they are currently in.
So America needs a plan to fight not only foreign/international terrorism but we need a plan to fight urban terrorism that is plaguing our youth in America. Some of the brightest and youngest minds in America have been plagued by the recent heights in America's youth violence. Nonetheless, it is clear that the war on our youth is something that we all have a part in but in an election year where the stakes are so high, we need to bring this recent issue of teen violence and gun violence to the attention our Presidential candidates. We don't need speeches made but we need a plan on how each candidate will deal with this issue.
In fact we need a plan on how each national political party plans to address the issue of the teen violence that taking so many of our youths lives. We need the national and state parties to each draft plans in each state to deal with this issue so that the issue of teen violence and the current war on youth can finally be addressed in the matter in should be addressed in. Its as if it is 1964 all over again and I fear that Malcolm X famous speech the Ballot or the Bullet is what the American people need to hear in order to understand just how important the current election is.
So the shooting in Chicago are just an example of why it is even more prevalent that we attack this issue of gun violence and the war on our youth not now but right now.
