Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and all his legal troubles has continued to hit national and perhaps international news particularly just last week alone when he was ordered to jail for breaking his bond agreement that stated he could not travel outside of the state of Michigan without making the court aware of his travels. Judge Ronald Giles who is speaking above tells Kwame that he will be going to jail for making an unauthorized trip to Windsor, Canada on July 23. However the funny thing is that Kwame had a court date on July 25 where he was punished for reportedly shoving a Wayne County Sherriff on July 24 and on that court date his travel was limited. Now Channel 7--WXYZ in Detroit News Station but they are actually based in Southfield, broke the story of going to Windsor on July 29. The guy who broke the story named Steve Wilson who has had his run inn’s with Kwame and Kwame's bodyguards has be a throne in Kwame's side since Kwame was a first elected as Mayor in 2001.
In fact, Steve Wilson should know just first hand just how powerful Kwame and his bodyguards are because he has been thrown around like a ping pong ball practically every time he has encountered Kwame. The sad part to Steve's reporting is that despite the fact he has been caught on Woodward picking up he-she's time and time again, Channel 7 has not fired him or disciplined him in any way. However Channel 7 is all about ratings and the biggest rating in the city of Detroit and state of Michigan is the downfall of Detroit's government officials. You will never see the major news outlets attack suburban political officials like they continuously go after Detroit political officials. The suburbs have political officials who continuously get DUI's and are driving on suspended licenses as well as are taking tons of pain killers while holding such offices as State Representative, mayor, city council, etc. Nonetheless, those things are not flashy and big enough but having a politician in the city of Detroit get the same cases, than that's news worthy.
Kwame Kilpatrick is not the downfall of the city of Detroit or state of Michigan but it is the news outlets and the people who are to blame for the demise of Detroit. It is politicians like our beloved Governor who hasn't been to the city of Detroit except for political rallies for Hillary and Barack who is to blame. It is political officials like Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy who is to blame for all the attention Kwame is getting because before she brought these charges against Kwame, 2 or 3 viable candidates had signed up to run against her. However after these charges were brought, they quickly took their names off the ballot. Did anyone see Worthy campaigning? No because she had no competition and you would not even known she was running for re-election if you didn't vote unless you saw the 13th and 14th Congressional Districts slates that showed a picture of Detroit's Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on the front next to the chair of the 13th and 14th Congressional Districts as well as Kwame's mother Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick on the 13th & John Conyers on the 14th. Yes, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy received the endorsement of the 13th and 14th Congressional districts. Her name appeared on literature that contained Kwame Kilpatrick's name on it.
So did Kym Worthy do some political posturing? I will let you decide because if you looked at the newspapers and the news channels prior to the last two weeks, all you heard from Worthy's office was that she was going to need $1 million more dollars to hire more attorneys and to prosecute this case correctly by gathering more evidence. Come on, if you are going to bring charges against someone, you better have all the evidence you need from jump straight but clearly Worthy didn't and has been wasting taxpayers dollars in pursuit of keeping her job while she is having behind the scenes meetings with business leaders. Since when does the Wayne County Prosecutor meet with business leaders to discuss a possible plea deal regarding the Mayor of Detroit or any political official or defendant for that matter? If this isn't political posturing than I don't know what it is.
Now you have the state of Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox, who said that Kwame should resign back in February after Kwame's state of the City address where Kwame used the N-word. Now Cox is bringing charges against Kwame for reportedly shoving a Wayne County Sherriff. Cox jumped at investigating this case by telling news outlets that he will investigate this case not Worthy. So that's what Cox did and is bringing two felony charges against Kwame. However he could have easily charged Kwame with misdemeanors but the real problem is that Cox told the media that it doesn't matter what really happened or if the Sherriff got hurt. If Kwame touched him that's all I got to prove. Now that sounds great but it is two problems to Mike Cox's case. Is the Wayne County Sherriff and his partner stories the same? Wayne County Sherriff White says that Kwame got behind him and threw him into his female partner who probably only weighs 140 pounds compared to White's 260 or more. Therefore when both testified on July 25, they gave two different versions with the female partner telling the court it all happened so fast that I don't really know what happened. While White told the court Kwame got behind him and grabbed him by his shoulders and threw him into his partner. However wouldn't his partner have fallen back or fall if White's story is right. Something is just fishy about White's story and his partner’s story. Therefore it makes me wonder, why Mike Cox is charging Kwame with so little evidence.
Then it hit me, the Gubernatorial race is coming upon us in 2010 which is just 2 years away. Now the Michigan Democratic Party already has a front runner for the job in former Detroit mayor Dennis Archer but does the Michigan Republican Party have a front runner besides Dick DeVos who got smashed by Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm in 2006. Now enters Mike Cox who was taken off the list of possible Gubernatorial Republican candidates shortly after 2006 because of his extra-martial affairs. Now if he can bring down Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, that could push him back to the top and he could become highly favored by his Republican buddies. It is clear that Cox is political posturing as he is trying to position himself up to make a run for either Governor or United States Senate in a couple of years. Either way, Cox has to hope that his charges stick because in my opinion, all I have to do as Kwame's lawyer is to prove discrepancies in the two officers’ stories.
The last political posturing comes from Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm who will reportedly hold removal hearings in Detroit on September 3rd because the Detroit City Council has asked her two but they are not in any position to remove anyone when they are all under FBI investigation for the bad deals they have done. We don't know who to trust on City Council and many of them are just eyeing the mayor's seat themselves and they are all up for re-election in 2009 but with the FBI investigation hovering over their head, many are afraid that if they don't remove the Mayor, their political careers are dead. However their political careers are already dead because they are apart of the problem with the city selling Eastern Market, the Detroit Zoo, the Ambassador Bridge, soon to be the Tunnel, and practically every asset that the city of Detroit has ever owned. Nonetheless, Granholm has never shown any interest in the city of Detroit and has taken our vote for granted both times when she was elected and re-elected to office. That's why Granholm is only positioning herself to preside over these removal hearings because she wants to run for United States Senator one day perhaps Levins or Stabenow seat. So she has to stay in good graces with the rest of the state but particularly Detroit.
In the state of Michigan, the way Detroit goes in state-wide races, is the way that the rest of the state could go particularly if Detroit pours out to vote. Now to bring all of this to an even deeper front, when Ed McNamara was Wayne County Mayor, guess who all were apart of the huge McNamara machine that stretched from Detroit all the way to Lansing. Can you say Kwame Kilpatrick, Jennifer Granholm, Kym Worthy and Mike Cox? All four were apart of the beloved and revered McNamara machine that seemed to win any election that a McNamara candidate was up for. Now with Kilpatrick in legal troubles, all four are involved to create this square of a party with McNamara in the middle and one thing about McNamara who is resting in peace, he created a tight nip family who looked out for each other. So will Kwame Kilpatrick go to jail or be removed from office? It would shock me if either one happened but removed for office is more real than jail time.
That's why for anyone who thinks for a minute that Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is the downfall of the city of Detroit and state of Michigan, than you are wrong. Don't be fouled by political posturing and news outlets whose main job is to obtain ratings by any means necessary. I'm not going to say this is all racial but it is very political. If Detroit is painted badly and looks bad than how can the city survive and how can the state survive. So you have to cut the snake by the head and watch it die in order to restore a good image. Detroit's head was cut off in the 1960s and it elected its first African American mayor, now it is being cut off again and it looks like we will elect our first Caucasian mayor since the 1960s which I am not against as long as it is Jeffrey Fieger. Either way, do not blame Kwame for Detroit's black eye or the state of Michigan's failing policies but blame our political officials and our news outlets for casting majority of this negativity.
Any news outlets or radio talk shows that do nothing but talk but never offer any solutions particularly Mildred Gaddis than you need to ask them to shut up and run for office to change the city in the right direction. Call Em' Out needs to stop telling us who not to vote for and they need to start telling us who to vote for at the same time or at least get out there and knock doors and walk to get the proper people elected to office. Therefore I'm calling out Mildred Gaddis to stop hating and starting producing results. They give any one air time but not anyone can put up what they talk about. Therefore either Mildred Gaddis stops being paid under the table by political officials like Freeman Hendrix and Dennis Archer or she starts running for office to help the city. I question if Mildred Gaddis even stays in the city.
We as Detroiters don't need outsiders telling us what's wrong with our mayor, our city council, our government or our city. We as Detroiters need to take responsibility for our problems and stop blaming or placing the blame on one person. I'm not staying Kwame Kilpatrick is a great mayor but Kwame is not the reason Detroit and the state Michigan has a negative image. He is a small part of the problem. We need to do more and that is why we can't allow political posturing and gimmicks by radio talk show hosts to continue to control our minds.

Hello,
It's good to hear another side of this issue. While I thought the mayor should have step down; I thought the other garbage was wrong. I got tired of Gaddis and her braindead callers. Some of these callers tried to blame the mayor for murder.
Here's another thing that puzzles me. Didn't Gaddis accuse Steve Wilson of racist tactics when he first came to Detroit? Why are they buddy/buddy now? Who is paying this woman?
