2008 Democratic Convention Day 3

Day 3 of the Democratic Convention got called to order and the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee addressed the Convention Floor. Dean than allowed a delegate from Florida to call a motion to the floor where they would recognize all the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates eligible to be nominated. Dean went on to thank all those who helped to put this convention together for their hard work, dedication, support in making sure this 2008 Democratic Convention went on schedule and in a timely matter. Then the nominating speeches of both candidates who qualified for nomination of President of the United States of America came forth with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi leading this portion of the nomination convention by having the two people to present the nomination speeches come forward. First Hillary Clinton nomination speech was presented by Dolores Huerta (California), a pledged delegate for Hillary Clinton who wholeheartedly supported Hillary’s candidacy. Then Hillary was nominated by Jordan Apollo Pazell (Utah), the third youngest pledged delegate at the convention and it was seconded by Denise Williams Harris, a delegate from the state of New York.

Next Speaker of the House Pelosi came out again to introduce the nomination speech of Barack Obama which was given by Michael Wilson, an Iraq War veteran. Obama was nominated by Colorado State Senator Ken Salazar and seconded by Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz as well as Alabama Congressman Arthur Davis. Thus the Presidential nominating process was underway as a state by state roll call vote went into effect. With Alabama casting 48 votes for Obama and 5 votes for Clinton. Then Alaska cast 3 votes for Clinton and 15 votes for Obama. Followed by American Samoa casting 9 votes for Obama and Arizona cast 40 votes for Obama and 27 votes for Clinton. Arkansas went next were they cast 47 votes for Obama as a part of unity which was called by Senator Clinton. California quickly passed and Colorado went on to cast 55 votes for Obama and 15 votes for Clinton. This went on and on for until Obama reached 2118 votes needed for nomination. However before 2118 votes were reached, it was some drama where the state of New Mexico yielded its vote to Illinois who originally passed on its vote. However Illinois decided to yield its vote to the great state of New York and in an unprecedented move handed the mic to Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton decided to ask the crowd to declare right here, right now Barack Obama as their candidate and asked the procedural rules to be canceled as she moved for Barack Obama to be voted by acclamation.

It was an unprecedented move and the right move to do as the audience voted by acclamation for Barack Obama to be the Democratic Presidential nominee. So it became Barack Obama made history by becoming the first African American Presidential nominee of any major party in America. It was a truly historical moment as Obama officially was named the Democratic Presidential nominee and Senator Hillary Clinton did something that many before had never done by asking for an acclamation vote. The moment for Obama might be tomorrow with his acceptance speech but it was today at 6:50 p.m. that Obama became the Democratic Party nominee and a piece of history was created for all of across the world to come together and share in this momentum occasion. Senator Barack Obama, now perhaps the next President of the United States of America, is finally in the history books as no longer a Presidential candidate but now the official Democratic Presidential nominee. It was on June 3 that he won the Democratic Presidential Primary season but it is today that it became official and it will be tomorrow at INVESCO Field, the home of the Denver Broncos where he gives his acceptance. It was an emotional moment and some even cried in the audience.

Following the emotional moment of Obama being named the Democratic Presidential nominee, New York United States Senator Chuck Schumer took the stage as the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee talking about how Obama will need Democrats to have a larger majority in the U.S. Senate so that gas prices can be lowered, tax breaks for the middle class to happen and universal health care can happen. Senator Schumer spoke of how they need more Democrats in the Senate to ensure that the policies and ideas that we have talked about this election year become laws. Senator Schumer spoke more and more about how an Obama election to the Presidency will only work if he has the proper Senators in office to help him get the type of legislation that he needs for his agenda to be advanced. Senator Schumer made a strong speech for the Democrats to have a stronger majority in the Senate and spoke of how this is the type of change that Barack needs but most of all the America people need. Senator Schumer asked the audience and the others to go to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee website and give donations so that we can fight back against Republican 527 groups who want to keep Republicans in control of the Senate.

Congressman Tom Udall of New Mexico who is currently running for United States Senate in New Mexico came to speak. He spoke of how Barack Obama is the type of President the west and New Mexico needs. He gave the best line by saying that the Bush administration has set more new records than Michael Phelps. Congressman Udall spoke of how the middle class will benefit from his election and an Obama Presidency. Former Governor of New Hampshire Jeanne Shaheen came to the stage to speak about her candidacy for United States Senate in New Hampshire. Shaheen spoke of how the economy needs change and an Obama Presidency will help with this type of change. Shaheen spoke about her making history as the first female governor of New Hampshire and how with the help with the audience she can make history again by becoming the first female United States Senator from the state of New Hampshire

Jeff Merkely, Speaker of the Oregon State House came to the stage next to speak about his Senatorial bid in the state of Oregon and how electing him will benefit many people all in Oregon. Merkely spoke about how his opponent talks like Barack Obama but votes like President George W. Bush. Merkely gave a speech that attacked his opponent and told what type of Senator he would be. Next Maine Congressman Tom Allen came up to speak because he is running for United States Senate in Maine. He spoke about Washington needing bold leadership and how Mainers are suffering from the Bush economic policies. Congressman Allen vowed that President Barack Obama will help Mainers and all Americans with a sound economic policy and approach to getting our troops home from Iraq. That ended the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee presentation of some of its candidates who have real shots at defeating Republicans in seats predominately controlled by Republicans for years.

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley came up to speak about Barack Obama and all the work that Barack Obama did for the city of Chicago and state of Illinois. Mayor Daley outlined just Obama reached across party lines and how he reached out to all people regardless of where they stayed in Illinois or what party they belonged to. Mayor Daley spoke of how the American people are looking for change and how the same old politics will not work. However Mayor Daley said we need a leader who has leadership qualities that embody the spirit of all Americans. Mayor Daley spoke of how Obama will get us a new energy policy, more jobs and better education. Mayor Daley spoke of how an Obama candidacy will help all Americans in so many ways than one. It was a touching speech into who Obama was a state Senator, a community organizer and a United States Senator in the state of Illinois.

Congressman Robert Wexler of Florida came to speak where he unleashed tons of attacks on President and John McCain. Congressman Wexler spoke of Senator Obama being the change we need and how an Obama candidacy will help us properly fight terrorism and how Obama will be as Commander Chief by being a friend to Israel. Congressman Wexler spoke about Obama being a good commander chief and listed how he will fight for Israel, how he will fight against terrorism, how he will handle Iraq properly, and how he will work to keep nuclear arms from Iran. Congressman Wexler made a very strong message about Obama’s foreign policy vision and how an Obama Presidency would be as a strong ally of Israel and Israel being a free state.

Then the Democratic Women of the United States House of Representatives came out to speak with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivering the message. It was a real symbolic and strong message that out of 435 members of the U.S. House there are not a whole lot of women in the House. However the majority of the delegates at this year’s Democratic Convention are women, which is a historic milestone. Pelosi spoke of the Democratic Party being for women and how Obama is the candidate for America. Pelosi spoke of how the women in the U.S. House can’t afford more of the same and other women of the United States House of Representatives spoke of stories women shared with them across America. One after another, each Congresswomen shared story after story that were real and true because many women across America face it every day and write their congressmen and women but the results men and women across America need don’t occur. However hearing these stories and connecting these stories to how Obama helped passed legislation on behalf some of these women was creative. The Democratic Women of the United States House of Representatives connected legislation after legislation to Senator Obama’s voting record and how John McCain either voted against the legislation or didn’t show up to vote. They also connected Obama to future legislation that can happen with an Obama candidacy. They really went after the women’s vote for Obama as they positioned where Obama stands on women’s issues.

It was a very touching and memorable moment that should encourage women all across America no matter if you are a Democrat or Republican to look out for each other and hold politicians of all parties accountable. Don’t just believe the hype heard the Democratic Convention but believe the stories and relate each story to you because these are the stories that each of us face each and every day in America as we try to obtain the American Dream that so many before us have obtained.

Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings came to the stage to declare why Obama is the best choice for the nation’s national security. Congressman Cummings outlined what Obama would bring to securing America and attacked President and John McCain for their failed policies and promising the same old, same old. Congressman Cummings laid it out that Obama is ready to lead and Joe Biden is ready to lead. Congressman Cummings spoke about how an Obama-Biden ticket will help make sure that America is secure both at home and abroad. Followed by Congressman Cummings was Mark Docherty, a fire fighter from Sterling Heights, Michigan. Mark was accompanied by firefighters from Denver and he laid out why the fire fighters unions are supporting Obama for being there for fire fighters rights.

Then South Carolina Congressman James Clyburn, the Majority Whip, spoke about the Nation’s Greatest Security and what made our nation great. Congressman Clyburn spoke about issues that threaten our current generation such as HIV/AIDS, terrorism, and dehumanizing fellow man. Congressman Clyburn said Obama recognizes the threats of today and will be able to deal with the issues that are plaguing America and the world. Congressman Clyburn said that Obama is the leader that America needs in these tough times. Congressman Clyburn said that the Greatest Generation was selfless and they didn’t seek to hold that title forever so now is the time to elect Barack Obama because we can be great all over again. Congressman Clyburn laid out just how important this election is for us to leave up to the greatness of the generations before us by electing Barack Obama as the next President of the United States of America.

Miami Mayor Manny Diaz, the President of the Conference of Mayors, spoke about the dream of today and how we can be a nation of hope again. He give an insightful speech using the words of King and Obama but tied them together to showcase just how great this nation can be again and how great Americans can be when we work together and work to make life a whole lot better for each other’s lives. Then West Virginia United States Senator Jay Rockefeller came up to speak and spoke of how proud he is to be from West Virginia. Senator Rockefeller spoke of how proud we are as Americans to stand up here with two patriots, Vice President Senator Joe Biden and President Senator Barack Obama. Senator Rockefeller laid out why they are the best choice to deal with the issues that plague America’s national security and how their candidacy will help secure America. Senator Rockefeller gave a real straight talk about how Obama-Biden will secure American way better than how the Bush administration has done and way better than what John McCain will do. Senator Rockefeller made it clear that an Obama-Biden ticket will help America further its national security agenda and will help us clean up the messes that we have gotten ourselves into over the last 8 years. Senator Rockefeller said that Barack Obama is the strong steady hand that America needs to defeat terror and spoke of how he understands when and how to use our military forces properly.

Grammy Award Winner Melissa Etheridge performed “God Bless America” and “Born in the USA”, in which she received a standing ovation at the completion of her performance. Following her performance, Nevada United States Senator Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, spoke as the crowd yelled Harry, Harry as well as waved signs that said “Nevada for Harry” or “I Love Harry” with love being in the form of a heart. However Senator Reid went on to speak about national security and how America has been attacked throughout history even until today with Middle Eastern oil countries that control all the oil. Thus Senator Reid spoke about how we need to fight back against these attacks and come up with solutions to how we can start using alternative fuels. Senator Reid spoke of how since 1980 except for the Clinton Presidency, we have had a former oil executive or board member as President or Vice President or sometimes both. Senator Reid laid out why we can’t continue to have the same old status quo in office. Senator Reid said that there’s an answer and that answer is Barack Obama who can lead us through troubled waters to our beckoning shore of prosperity and hope for a better America. Senator Reid referred to Barack Obama as unique but so are we all. Senator Reid said that Senator Obama is smart, careful and tactful. Senator Reid laid out some of Obama’s energy policies and energy alternatives to fuel that will help America become better by not being dependent on foreign oil no longer.

Senator Reid went on to attack John McCain and McCain’s energy policies as being harmful especially offshore drilling. Senator Reid really made a good clever attack on McCain’s offshore drilling plan by saying that it might not do any harm but it is not the solution to solving America’s high soaring oil prices. Senator Reid said it is time to elect Barack Obama as the President of the United States of America. Then a Retired Command Sergeant Major Michele Jones of the U.S. Army endorsed Senator Barack Obama as President by calling him the best qualified candidate and said he has the experience to be commander in chief. She went on to say that Senator Obama understands veterans, both active and reserve, and the needs of the veterans. She really laid out a clear endorsement for Obama but barely graced a smile but was strong and her message was real clear. She showcased just why she became impressed with Barack Obama and how he cares about others no matter what. She really spoke from the heart and gave a very strong powerful endorsement from a retired military officer of why Barack Obama is qualified to be Commander-In-Chief.

Following her endorsement Congressman Patrick Murphy of Pennsylvania came to speak about his story and how he has lived the American Dream. Congressman Murphy spoke of how he ran for Congress to change how our veterans are treated at home. Congressman Murphy made it clear that Barack Obama will be the type of commander in chief to fight for veterans’ rights and issues. As the other men and women of the military stood behind Congressman Murphy, it was clear that tonight’s agenda of national security was underway. Former Secretary of State Madeline Albright took the stage next speaking about her connection to Denver and why Obama will be a great commander in chief as well as why McCain doesn’t have the right plan. Albright went after McCain and his 20th century thinking. Albright made it clear that Obama and Biden will win in November and they will work hard as our President. Albright asked everyone to work hard to see that Obama and Biden have that chance.

Indiana United States Senator Evan Bayh came out and spoke as the crowd cheered. Senator Bayh spoke about the type of change American needs and how America has been torn down under President Bush policies. Senator Bayh went on the attack talking about how John McCain will do more of the same as Bush and how that is not the change we need. Senator Bayh theme for this speech was “Not the change we Need.” Senator Bayh laid out clearly that McCain and Bush is not the change we need and laid out how time for change is now. Senator Bayh really went on the attack about McCain and laid out how we can’t afford another four years of Washington as usual. Senator Bayh attacked John McCain’s economic policies and foreign policies and how these things will hurt America even more. Senator Bayh made it clear that Barack Obama will bring out troops home and how Obama is the change we need in America. Senator Bayh gave an insightful speech about the type of change we need and told us that this campaign is not about a single party but it is about the future of America. Senator Bayh really told story after story about all those who are fighting for something and how those causes and fights are America’s causes and fights. Senator Bayh really laid out a strong and visionary speech that made it clear that that Senator Obama and Senator Biden will be the best hope for America’s future today and tomorrow.

Rhode Island Untied States Senator Jack Reed spoke next about why Barack Obama will be President. Senator Reed laid out why Obama will make a great President and why Obama should be elected President. He spoke about Obama’s trip to the Middle East that he accompanied Obama on and how the troops wanted to meet him and greet him. Senator Reed spoke of how our men and women in uniform know a leader when they see him. Senator Reed than went on the attack and went after McCain like never before. Senator Reed told the people about how McCain has fallen in line with the Bush administration. Senator Reed gave a speech validating why Obama is the man to get us out of the war and why Obama will continue the fight against Bin Laden. Senator Reed gave a good speech trying to make the case for Obama’s leadership qualities and why we can’t afford more the same from John McCain. Senator Reed said that Obama and Biden have a vision to end the war in Iraq and how America will be better with them two at the helm because America will grow to greater heights with them two leading the way.

Former South Dakota United States Senator Tom Daschle, former Majority Leader, spoke next about why Obama is the right man to protect America’s future. Senator Daschle spoke of how our next America will face the most daunting set of national security challenges and spoke to how we can’t afford to accept four more years of the same. Daschle spoke of how the failures of the Bush administration have gotten us one international crisis after another with nothing to show for it. Daschle spoke about how we need leaders like Barack Obama who will work with allies and enemies to make America’s national security interests better. Daschle give a speech aimed at appealing to why an Obama-Biden ticket will give American’s new hope and how America’s future will be better. Daschle gave a good welcoming speech that was filled with strength for hope and prosperity.

United States Florida Congressman Kendrick Meek then introduced his good friend and the nation’s 43rd President William Jefferson Clinton, otherwise known as Bill Clinton to the crowd after the song “Change, Change” was played. Congressman Meek gave a great biographical introduction of what can happen when a Democratic is in office. Congressman Meeks gave a strong introduction to President Clinton. The crowd was hype and ready to go as President Clinton took the podium to the song “Don’t stop Thinking about Tomorrow”. The crowd was really joyful and excited to see President Clinton as he thanked the crowd. President Clinton saw nothing but a crowd waving American flags in honor of him. The crowd kept cheering for Clinton for at least two or three minutes but they just wouldn’t stop cheering for him.

President Clinton began his speech by supporting Barack Obama and telling the audience that we have a lot of work to do as well as tell the crowd he is warming up the crowd for Joe Biden. President Clinton said he loves Joe Biden and America loves Joe Biden. President Clinton spoke about how Democrats had a great campaign season this year. President Clinton thanked her wife and told the crowd that he is going to do everything he can to elect President Obama. President Clinton asked all 18 million of Hillary supporters to vote for Barack Obama in November than went on to tell them way. President Clinton spoke of how the American Dream is under siege at home and how the middle class and lower class are hurting due to credit card debt, soaring food prices and gas prices and health care costs. President Clinton spoke about the things that are hurting America overseas and things that are plaguing the world. President Clinton spoke in no clearer terms of what the job of the next President is in terms of restoring the American Dream and rebuilding America’s leadership in the world.

President Clinton said that Barack Obama is the man for this job based off of his 8 years of experience as President and as his work throughout the world with his foundation. President Clinton said Obama policies are far superior then any Republican. President Clinton said Obama hit it out of the park with his running mate of Joe Biden. President Clinton talked about Joe Biden’s wisdom and experience accompanying Obama’s hope and change than Obama will lead America and restore America’s leadership in the world. President Clinton endorsed Obama in loud terms and made it clear that Obama is ready to be President of the United States of America. President Clinton spoke about what fighting HIV/AIDS here at home and Obama will do about that. The first time I heard it mention throughout the convention. President Clinton spoke highly about Obama and gave a resounding endorsement of Obama and why Obama is ready to be commander in chief.

President Clinton really laid it out as to what Obama will do as commander in chief and what Obama will do as President. President Clinton said it best that the world has always been expressed by the power of America’s example and not by the example of our power. President Clinton than went on to attack the Republican Party and their failed policies that have hurt so many families, soldiers and veterans. President Clinton gave an outstanding speech saying Barack Obama will do better than anything the Republicans have to offer. President Clinton said “Yes We Can” but first we have to elect him. Then President Clinton talked about McCain and praised him but said that on the two great questions, McCain doesn’t have the answer to it because he embracing the same failed philosophies of the Republican Party. President Clinton spoke of how the Republicans took America in debt, into poverty, and more problems when they took control of the White House and both branches of Congress in 2002.

President Clinton set the tone for Senator Joe Biden by exciting the crowd, getting them fired up and ready for this November. President Clinton took them back into history as in 1992 and how the Republicans said he was too young and too inexperienced because we were on the right side of history and said that it won’t work in 2008 because Barack Obama is on the right side of history. President Clinton praised Michelle Obama and said that the Obama’s are a 21st century of the American Dream. President Bill Clinton gave a speech that ran over but it was an insightful and strong speech that passed the torch of Bill Clinton to Barack Obama.

Sadly the Democratic Party had Beth Robinson, the spouse of veteran speak. Then 2004 Democratic Presidential nominee candidate Senator John Kerry came to speak and he gave a speech endorsing Barack Obama. Senator Kerry spoke about 2004 and how close he came to victory. I would write more about Senator Kerry’s speech but I can’t find it in to me to speak on a flip flopper and the lesser of two evils. Senator Kerry tried to be funny in his speech but he is one of the driest Presidential nominees I have ever seen in my short life time. While Senator Kerry went after McCain it still was a real dry speech that I couldn’t get into. Senator Kerry called McCain a flip flopper and talked about McCain having a debate with himself first before debating Obama.

Lt. General Claudia Kennedy who is the first woman to achieve rank of three star general in the U.S. Army spoke following Kerry on the new changing leadership of America. She was followed by Rear Admiral Retired John Hutson who is the President of Franklin Pierce Law Center. Then Texas Congressman Chet Edwards spoke because he is the congressman of President Bush but most importantly he spoke about the spouses of our veterans who have served us all with their sacrifice. Congressman Edwards gave a speech about how Obama will bring our troops home responsibly from Iraq. Congressman Edwards said Obama is the change we need and made it clear that Obama will look out for our veterans. Congressman Edwards introduced a film directed by Steven Spielberg and narrated by Tom Hanks about veteran’s benefits and the dreams they possess as well as the struggles they are faced with by securing and protecting America’s future as well as the transitions they make from warriors to ordinary people. It was an emotional film that was real and true. It is one side of the Iraq War but one thing is clear we cannot make the Iraq War a political issue and our troops stories political like we did in the past. Right is right and wrong is wrong. We do need to bring our troops home by in a timely responsible way that will not get any more of our soldiers killed or harmed. The video is powerful but it should be used as a political ploy but as a reminder of why our troops and veterans should be praised always.

Following the film Iraq War veteran Amy Duckworth spoke to the crowd about her experience in Iraq four years ago. She is now the Illinois Veterans Affairs Department Director and she spoke about how she was saved by her fellow soldiers and how thankful she is to be here. Amy told her story and told us that we must always keep the faith with our veterans when they return home. Quincy Lucas came to speak next about Joe Biden because she was from Dover, Delaware. She placed Joe Biden’s name into Vice Presidential nomination. Speaker Nancy Pelosi came to the floor where Joe Biden was accepted by acclamation. Biden accepted the nomination and a video on Joe Biden came on that introduced those at home and in the crowd, who Joe Biden is. Senator Joe Biden has an interesting story to be proud of because he is a fighter for the people of Delaware as a 6 term Senator. It was touching video but an exciting video

Senator Joe Biden’s son, Beau Biden, the Attorney General of Delaware, introduced his father to the crowd. Beau’s introduction of his father was heartwarming as he shared Biden’s story about being a family man and man of the people. Senator Joe Biden and 2008 Vice President Candidate Joe Biden came to the stage to the song “Ain’t that America”. Senator Biden was received by a cheerful crowd waving Biden placards but it was not the same type of reception both Hillary and Bill Clinton received. It was loud but not as loud. Senator Biden said he was proud of his son and the rest of his daughters. Senator Biden was honored to share the stage of President Clinton and he made a strong reference to Hillary and how wonderful she is. Senator Biden went on thank our military for their heroism.

Senator Biden said he accepts the nomination to run and serve with Barack Obama, the next President of the United States of America. Senator Biden tried to be humorous but became emotional as he thanked his dad and mom. Senator Biden’s father is deceased but Biden’s mother was there to watch her accept the nomination. Senator Biden spoke about his childhood and how his mother always encouraged him no matter what he faced as a child. Senator Biden said his mother’s creed is America’s creed that no one is better than you and everyone is equal no matter where you or they came from. Senator Biden spoke about how the American dream is slowly slipping away and Washington isn’t doing anything to help the American people get back up.

Senator Biden went on to speak about all the worries and troubles that many Americans face. He said that that’s the type of America that President Bush has left us and Senator John McCain promises us more of the same. Senator Biden said Senator Barack Obama is the American story. Senator Biden spoke about Obama’s story and what Obama chose to do in his life. Senator Biden spoke of Obama’s accomplishments as a United States Senator and State Senator in Illinois. Senator Biden said that he learned a lot about Barack Obama by campaigning with and running against him. Senator Biden said Barack Obama will change this country and Biden spoke about how John McCain is his friend. Senator Biden spoke of how he means it that John McCain is his friend and it transcends politics. However Senator Biden has said that McCain’s policies is not what America needs. Senator Biden went on to speak about McCain’s voting record and how McCain is more of the same, not change.

Senator Biden really tried to lay into John McCain with every attack he could and said that over and over that McCain is more of the same and that’s not change. The audience even got into it. Senator Biden said the choice in this election is clear. These times require more than a good soldier but a wise leader. Senator Joe Biden spoke of the time of change we need and how Barack Obama will be the type of change we need. Senator Biden laid out point after point of change Obama will bring to America. Senator Biden received cheers from the crowd but not as loud as Hillary and Bill received. Nonetheless Senator Biden spoke about how Barack and him will be the real change not only America needs but what the world needs to see from America. Senator Biden made it clear that America can’t suffer four more years of the same. Senator Biden went after the judgment of McCain and said that Obama’s judgment is right.

Senator Joe Biden said that John McCain has been wrong and Barack Obama has been right time and time again. Senator Biden speech was filled with attack after attack of his friend John McCain. Is this really a friendship when you go after McCain and not really explain the policies of Obama? Senator Biden said the world will trust us again and look to us as leadership with Barack Obama as President. Biden as a United States Senator since 1972 biggest piece of legislation is the violence against women’s act and putting more police officers on the streets that lowered crime for 8 years. But what about the years before and after. Then Biden ended his speech and Senator Barack Obama came out as the crowd cheered louder for him than they cheered for Biden throughout Biden’s whole speech.

Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama really excited the crowd at the convention by coming out and sharing the stage with his Vice Presidential pick Joe Biden. Vice President Joe Biden is did not deliver the type of excitement needed from a Vice Presidential pick but he did hit hard and strong against Republican Presidential candidate John McCain. However Day 3 ended with a lot of hard hitting commander in chief talk about why Barack Obama should be the President of the United States of America and why he is fit to lead America into the future. Day 3 was a symbol of just how special President Bill Clinton is and how he perhaps went one up on his wife. President Clinton gave a great speech like he was running for Vice President with Barack not only supporting him. President Clinton left little to no doubt that he is still the great oratorical that was as President and he delivered the best sounding ovation speech of the night that was jam packed with the audience interrupting him throughout his speech that he had to talk long pauses which made his speech run over. Kudos to President Bill Clinton and good job to the Democratic Party for showcasing the national security policy of Barack Obama but Vice President Joe Biden has not said once that Obama is experienced enough to lead. However Biden is swiftly becoming a great attack dog for Obama against John McCain. Day 3 ends and the excitement for Day 4 is in full effect as many anticipate Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at INVESCO Field, the home of the Denver Broncos and where 75,000-80,000 people will hear Obama make his historical acceptance speech as the first African American of a major political party in the United States of America.

Jay-Z - History

(Jay-Z - History)Jay-Z - History with Lyrics

LYRICS : [Chorus: Cee-lo]
Now that all the smoke is gone
(Lighter)
And the battle's finally won
(Gimme a lighter)
Victory (Lighters up) is finally ours
(Lighters up)
History, so long, so long
So long, so long

[Verse 1: Jay-Z]
In search of victory, she keeps eluding me
If only we could be together momentarily
We can make love and make history
Why won't you visit me? until she visit me
I'll be stuck with her sister, her name is defeat
She gives me agony, so much agony
She brings me so much pain, so much misery
Like missing your last shot and falling to your knees
As the crowd screams for the other team
I practice so hard for this moment, victory don't leave
I know what this means, I'm stuck in this routine
Whole new different day, same old thing
All I got is dreams, nobody else can see
Nobody else believes, nobody else but me
Where are you victory? I need you desperately
Not just for the moment, to make history

[Chorus: Cee-lo]
Now that all the smoke is gone
(Lighters)
And the battle's finally won
(Lighters)
Victory is finally ours
(Yeah)
History (yeah), so long, so long
So long, so long

[Verse 2: Jay-Z]
So now I'm flirting with death, hustling like a G
While victory wasn't watching took chances repeatedly
As a teenage boy before acne, before I got proactiv I couldn't face she
I just threw on my hoodie and headed to the street
That's where I met success, we'd live together shortly
Now success is like lust, she's good to the touch
She's good for the moment but she's never enough
Everybody's had her, she's nothing like V
But success is all I got unfortunately
But I'm burning down the block hoppin' in and out of V
But something tells me that there's much more to see
Before I get killed because I can't get robbed
So before me success and death ménage
I gotta get lost, I gotta find V
We gotta be together to make history

[Chorus: Cee-lo]
Now that all the smoke is gone
(Lighters. Up.)
And the battle's finally won
(Lighter. Up.)
Victory is finally ours
(Lighters. Up.)
History, so long, so long
So long, so long

[Verse 3: Jay-Z]
Now victory is mine, it tastes so sweet
She's my trophy wife, you're coming with me
We'll have a baby who stutters repeatedly
We'll name him history, he'll repeat after me
He's my legacy, son of my hard work
Future of my past, he'll explain who I be
Rank me amongst the greats, either 1, 2, or 3
If I ain't number one then I failed you victory
Ain't in it for the fame that dies within weeks
Ain't in it for the money, can't take it when you leave
I wanna be remembered long after you grieve
Long after I'm gone, long after I breathe
I leave all I am in the hands of history
That's my last will and testimony
This is much more than a song, it's a baby shower
I've been waiting for this hour, history you ours

[Chorus: Cee-lo (2x)]
Now that all the smoke is gone
And the battle's finally won
Victory is finally ours
History, so long, so long
So long, so long

Man in the Mirror--By Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson - Man in the mirror

I'm gonna make a change,
for once im my life
It's gonna feel real good,
gonna make a diference
Gonna make it right...

As I, turn up the collar on
my favorite winter coat
This wind is blowing my mind
I see the kids in the streets,
with not enought to eat
Who am I to be blind?
Pretending not to see their needs

A summer disregard,a broken bottle top
And a one man soul
They follow each other on the wind ya' know
'Cause they got nowhere to go
That's why I want you to know

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
(If you wanna make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
(Take a look at yourself, and then make a change)
(Na na na, na na na, na na, na nah)

I've been a victim of a selfish kind of love
It's time that I realize
That there are some with no home, not a nickel to loan
Could it be really me, pretending that they're not alone?

A willow deeply scarred, somebody's broken heart
And a washed-out dream
(Washed-out dream)
They follow the pattern of the wind ya' see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me
(Starting with me!)

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Ooh!)
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
(If you wanna make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
(Take a look at yourself, and then make a change)

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Change his ways - ooh!)
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that..
(Take a look at yourself and then make that..)
CHANGE!

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Man in the mirror - Oh yeah!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Better change!)
No message could have been any clearer
(If you wanna make the world a better place)

Michael Jackson - Man in the mirror

A Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cook

It's been a long time coming but a change is surely going to come in America and the World! I am the Future of America and the World and that is the message that each of us must carry with us each and every day that we wake up on Earth! I am the Future! You are the Future! We are the Future of America and the World! That is way every election is important--primaries, special elections and general! So vote every year and hold our politicians accountable. Hold our political officials accountable by writing them, calling them and making sure they attend meetings that we the people have. "The Time for Change is not Now but Right Now!"

"EmPOWERment By Any Means Necessary" should be our anthem and should be our creed as we make the positive differences in America and the world that so many people beg for and hungry for year after year! A Change is Gonna Come, A Change is Gonna Come, that's what we must say as we say "God grants us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, Courge to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference" each morning before we go about the task of making a positive change in America and the world a reality.

Born In The U.S.A. - Bruce Springsteen

“When will people realize that we are Americans first and foremost, not Democrats or Liberals, not Republicans or Conservatives, not Independents or moderates. We are Americans. Stop putting a political party above America and stop putting any politican above America. America succeeds because of us the people holding our government responsible no matter the political party because the main two political parties are to blame for the condition America is in."—Hodari P.T. Brown

America with its flaws and all is a country I am proud to have been born in. America is not perfect but my love for it is perfect. That’s why all Americans must realize that we are all Americans. In fact we are Americans first and foremost. We are not Democrats or Republicans. We are Americans.

We are not Muslims, Christians or Jews. We are Americans. Too many times we recognize our differences with others rather than appreciating our similarities which are, we are Americans. We are Americans first and foremost, no matter if we were born here or moved here legally. We are all Americans, here in this country to make not only our lives better but the lives of other Americans better so future Americans can enjoy the rights and freedoms that make us all Americans.

We are all Americans. We are one party united under God. We are Americans and this is the only political party that matters. We are Americans and this is our country so let’s make sure that we make America better than how we found it so future Americans can live prosperous and joyous lives. We are Americans and must not ever forget that.

America will prosper as long we make sure we are doing our part to make it prosper and that means we can’t put any political party or politician above America. Long live America forever and long live America’s service to the world. Together, America and the world will prosper for future generations to enjoy America and the world we live in.

Lift Every Voice and Sing

This video of the ' Negro National Anthem' was originally screened at the historic African-American Church Inaugural Ball in Washington, DC on January 18th, 2009. Many of the esteemed individuals featured in this video in attendance and we presented with the ' Keepers of the Flame' award for the monumental contributions to social justice.

This version of the song was performed by the Grace Baptist Church Cathedral Choir, conducted by Derrick James. The video was produced and donated by Ascender Communications, LLC (www.ascender-c.com) at the request of The Balm In Gilead, Inc.

If I Was President--Wyclef Jean

If I was President that is the people's anthem. We all have ideas of what we can do as President and through this website, we will fulfill our deam as a people!

Somethings Gotta Give--Big Boi ft Mary J Blige

Somethings Gotta Give people and it begins today for all us to make sure that something is us. We the people are sick and tired of suffering. Where is our piece of the Dream that so many people dead for so that we all could see today. This is our time people to change America and the world so that the Next Generation has a better future than the past we inherited.

This is our call to service. This isn't about one political candidate or one political figure. This is about us as people coming together to finally leave up to our potential and achieving the great feats that those before us have achieved. This is our moment to lead our nation and our world to greater heights.

Somethings gotta give people and it starts with us the people making it happen. We have to improve our education system in America. We have to rid the world of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We have to go to the streets and lift a hand to another in order to decrease poverty in this world. We have to take a stand today and make sure that the future of America and the world is brighter than it has ever been.

Somethings Gotta Give and that is why we must "Remember Each One, Reach One and Teach One so America's future and the World's future continues to prosper."

John Legend - "If You're Out There"

If you're out there than you need to get started in helping to change America and the world. The world and America won't change until you get involved in making the changes you want to see in this world. If you're out there, than you must know that tomorrow started now and today started yesterday so you are behind in helping to the change. If you are tired of hatred, racism, poverty, war, and violence than the time to change it is now. If you want universal health care, world peace, democracy for every nation, equal rights, and happiness for all than you must get involved now to help the save world.

You must believe in the change that you want to see and you must act on making that change a reality. If you're out there than say it aloud and show the rest of America and the world that you're out here to make a real positive change in the communities we stay in. If you're out there than get involved now. I'm calling every women and men to join me as we take back our country right here, right now. If you're out there than the future started yersterday and we are already late so we have lots of work to do but I know we can do it together as one.

YES WE CAN

Yes We Can accomplish anything that we set out to do! We don't need charismatic or inspirational leaders to believe in ourselves and to take responsiblity for our own faith, we just need each other. Yes We Can build a new America and a new world if each of us would take action now to make the changes that we want to see in the world. Yes We Can control government by holding our political officials accountable for their actions by calling them out when they don't pass legislation that supports the common good of all man and by voting in every election to ensure that we have people representing the people locally, state wide, nationally and in the world.

Yes We Can be great! Yes We Can be what we want to be! Yes We Can be glorious in not only America but the world! Yes We can put action behind our worlds and change the world starting right here, right now! Yes We Can as Republicans, Democrats and Independents become one as we freely think about our fellow men and women and make decisions that will be in the best interest of all people and not one single group.

Yes We Can be the change that we want to see in the world! Yes We Can show the world that the youth are ready to lead! Yes We Can put our egos, our social economic statuses, our religions, our educational statuses and our skin color to the side for the better good of the world! Yes We Can be Greater than we have ever been and help others be Greater than they have ever be!

YES WE CAN and YES WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS IN ALL THAT WE DO! YES WE CAN, no matter what others may say, we will be glorious! YES WE WILL and YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN!

YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN is what will be sung from every mountaintop, every riverbank, every household, every school yard, every factory, every sporting event, every college campus and even every place you can imagine in the world is where YES WE CAN, will be said and heard!

YES WE CAN!

Keep On Pushing - Curtis Mayfield & the Impressions

Wake Up People! No matter who is elected to any public office, we have to “Keep On Pushing” as a people to make sure they don’t leave us in a worst state than what they inherited. We as a people have to “Keep On Pushing” to make a difference in the lives of others. We have to have an “EmPOWERment By Any Means Necessary” attitude as we continue to push our agenda that we the people deserve and want better. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to bring about change in a positive way that will benefit all Americans no matter their age, their religion or skin color. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to bring about change that will improve our education system, improve our military, improve our national security, improve our healthcare system and improve our economy. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to bring about change that will leave America’s future in a better than how we found it and that will leave the world’s future in a better state than we imagined we could live it. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to make life better for our neighborhoods, our families and even our quote on quote enemies. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to inspire, to uplift and to guide those who need help spiritually, physically and mentally. We have to “Keep On Pushing ” so that our lives, our future generation’s lives and the lives of those who came before us does not die in vein.

A War For Your Soul

A War For Your Soul-regular version from Erisai Films on Vimeo.

The moment has come for us as a nation of people to finally wake up and realize that our destiny and fate in society has rests on our shoulders. We cannot allow the forces of evil and darkness to drain us out. We have to continue to overcome all odds in order to make the future of our nation better and the future of future generations of Americans better. We have to continue to pray to our Lord and we have to continue to uplift each other in prayer as well as take action against those things that are trying to destroy us. We have to stand up once and for all and be the future that we want to be. Now is our time and we shall do together by any means necessary.

This video was created to inspire young African-Americans not to fall prey to some of the problems they face in society. The use of the voice "Master of Darkness" represents evil, which is where the blame of all problems should be placed, and not on any one group of people. This video should not to be used to divide people (Black & White), there are images of heroes that are white in this video, and there are images of Black & White coming together with the words of Dr. King in the background. Some of the images from the past can be unsettling, but they are used to show all Americans how far we have come, and how far we still have to go. This film is being strategically placed in school systems, churches and youth orgs around the country, in hope of helping a lost generation of kids that we as Americans have forgotten. As fellow Americans we must continue to love each other, and take that love and spread it to the rest of the world. **THIS VIDEO IS NOT FOR SALE & I AM NOT ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR THE FILM, I ONLY WANT THE MESSAGE TO REACH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT ANY HIDDEN POLITICAL OR FINANCIAL AGENDA.

Sitting On the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding

"The time for sitting is over! The time for action is now! The time for hope without action is hopeless! The time for change without a positive attitude is a change that we can't believe in! We need change that is positive of helping all people! Our time for action is now, our time for hope is now, our time for change is now and our time to believe that we can do whatever we set our minds to is not now but right now!"

STAR SPANGLED BANNER

The Star-Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key

O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming;
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, now conceals, now discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream;
'Tis the star-spangled banner; O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave,
From the terror of flight and the gloom of the grave;
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave!

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land,
Praise the power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just.
And this be our motto— "In God is our trust; "
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

Black President

Our Time is not now but Right Now! Our Time has finally come to change the world not now but Right Now! If you don't believe that we can change the world than watch as we do it by changing your mind into believing in us and what we can do! This is OUR TIME RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!

FIGHT THE POWER

We got to FIGHT THE POWER! We can no longer sit on the sidelines and watch injustices take place. We can no longer sit by and allow our right to vote to become unexercised. We must FIGHT THE POWER for our past, present and future! We can no longer allow our rights to be oppressed and our voice to become drained by the powers at be. We must FIGHT THE POWER and show that we have a lot to say that needs to be heard by the mainstream media. We must FIGHT THE POWER and live up to our potential as dynamic, unbelievable and phenomenal people.

We must not believe the hype but we must become the hype. We are not Harriett Tubman, Marcus Garvey, MLK, Malcolm X, Booker T. Washington, Carter G. Woodson, W.E.B. DuBois, the Black Panther Party, SNCC, or any other activists but we are the fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, uncles, aunties, and relatives of those who came before us to pave the way for us to FIGHT THE POWER! We are not next Generation of leaders who will not be honored and praised until they die but that’s the fight we accept. We are not fighting the power for glory or fame but we are fighting the power for just causes that most men and women will not understand until years or decades later.

We are fighting for our sisters and brothers in Darfur, Georgia, Iraq, Iran, China and Mexico. We are speaking for those who are poor and have no food or water. We are fighting for those who are sick and dying. We are fighting for universal healthcare across the world and human rights for all people. We are fighting for rich and poor! We must FIGHT THE POWER no matter how hard and tough the road may be. We must FIGHT THE POWER for a better today and an even greater tomorrow!

FIGHT THE POWER!

“People Get Ready” because we have had enough of just talking but now is our time to show action. “People Get Ready” to take back America and the world. “People Get Ready” to take back our communities and to make our streets safer and schools better. “People Get Ready” to make all our dreams come true. “People Get Ready” to see a better present for everyone and a better future for future generations. “People Get Ready” to live up to your potential and to help others live up to their own potential. “People Get Ready” to move past hatred, bigotry, racism and sexism. “People Get Ready” to fulfill the dreams of those who came before us and those who will come after us.

“People Get Ready” as we make our actions speak louder than our words. “People Get Ready” to make words mean something again as we put action to back up our rhetoric. “People Get Ready” as we embark on a new journey that will re-write America’s history as well as the world’s history. “People Get Ready” as we make the lives of others better and the lives of future generations better. “People Get Ready” because all we need is faith, hope and action to make this world a better place. “People Get Ready” to make a difference. “People Get Ready” to fulfill the American dream. “People Get Ready" to live out the American Dream as our founding fathers wanted us to live it. “People Get Ready” because our time is now, our moment is now and our moment in time to change America & the world is not now but right now. “People Get Ready” because a change is coming!

Alicia]
(Let me tell you now)
People get ready, there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket, you just thank the lord

[Lyfe]
People get ready, for a train to Jordan
Picking up passengers coast to coast
Faith is the key, open the doors and board them
There's hope for all among those loved the most

[Alicia]
There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all man kind just to save his own (believe me now)
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
For there's no hiding place against the kingdoms throne

[Alicia & Lyfe]
So people get ready there's a train coming
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels humming,
You don't need no ticket, you just thank the lord
