Democratic Senator Barack Obama is winning the battle of bucks in the battleground states over Republican Senator John McCain. However the polls show the race is closing in McCain's favor in many of these battleground states and nationwide. Since Obama's overseas trip, he has lost a huge chuck of his lead that he had while overseas while McCain and the Republican Party have stepped up its attacks on Obama's character and record as well as Obama stances on various issues. In fact with Obama on vacation this week, McCain has gained even more media attention while the Obama campaign try to figure out Obama's running mate and counter attacks to many of the claims about Obama character that have emerged.
It is clear that as the polls continue to get close, Obama will come off vacation with many questions to answer and Obama will have to hit back really hard in order to counter the attacks and accusations made by the Republican Party and John McCain. However the recent war between Georgia-Russia didn't help Obama as many in the media criticized his stance and his statements in regards to the war as being to weak and to out of touch with the situation. While the media found McCain stance and rheotric as well as his ideas to be well ahead of President Bush's response to the situation. In fact it can be said that the Bush administration took some of the advice and suggestions that McCain made in order to properly deal with the situation between Georgia and Russia.
Therefore expect a 3am ad to emerge again that shows how Obama lacks the experience and courage to make the tough decisions while McCain is ready to lead from day one with the experience to deal with situations such as the one between Georgia & Russia. So despite the fact that Obama has more bucks and has spent more bucks than McCain in key battleground states, McCain has maintained steady pace with Obama despite being out spent. McCain and Obama are in a close Presidential race similar to the 2000 and 2004 Presidential races. That's why the next upcoming days and weeks will be critical to this November's election.
The polls are tightening up and the pressure is heating up as the attack ads seem to be on a daily basis between both campaigns. However it seems as if the Republican Party is just a whole lot better than the Democratic Party in the sense they are playing offense while Barack Obama and the Democratic Party are continously playing defense. If Obama doesn't play offense soon, McCain could win key battleground states such as Michigan and Florida that are critical to this year's election.
For now we have to wait and see what will happen in this year's Presidential election.
