Boehner: Every Major Bill Should Be Posted Online and Publicly Available for at Least 72 Hours

Boehner and Republicans are on to something but isn't this exactly what President Barack Obama promised us in regards to all bills prior to him signing it into law and we know how well that has gone. However my suggestion is that all bills in Congress not those just deemed major have 72 hours for it to be online and publicly available prior to our Congress voting on it with all amendments intact and no further changes to be made prior to the vote. Still the ideas of the Republicans in the House seems good but I'm skeptical it will work because how effective President Obama's own transparency policy in regards to bills being signed into law has gone. Still something needs to be done so that we the American people more time to contact our Congressional leaders regarding laws and bills that affect all Americans. So if we can't 72 hours than it seems to me our congressional leaders want to continue to hide things from us the American people, the very people who are their bosses not the other way around. Therefore we the American people should help push this bill through with amendments to include what I have suggested because we need to be able to check our legislators regarding all bills especially when the legislation they usually pass that is deemed major has over 1000 plus pages. Transparency in government is needed now more than ever.

Americans should be allowed to know the contents of major bills before they are brought to a vote in the House. Previous Congresses, including Republican ones, have failed to meet this common-sense standard. But never in history has the failure been more acute than under Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi, particularly over the past nine months.

Reps. John Culberson (R-TX) and Brian Baird (D-WA) have introduced a resolution that would require all bills to be posted online publicly for at least 72 hours before they are brought to a vote.
