
To successfully qualify, his campaign must collect 112,476 valid signatures of registered voters and submit THEM to county election supervisors.
Meek announced Thursday he will cross the state for the petition drive from Pensacola to Key West, April 4 to 13, with stops in Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Panama City, Pensacola, Key West, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
``To win in 2010, this campaign will organize the grassroots in 2009 by reaching out to all Floridians from the Panhandle to the Keys,'' Meek was quoted as saying in a press release.
Meek, who is serving his fourth term representing Florida's 17th congressional district, which includes parts of Miami-Dade and Broward counties, is campaigning to replace Sen. Mel Martinez, R-Fla., who is not seeking re-election.
