Why Whites Can't 'Get Over' Color

I found the title of this article Why Whites Can't 'Get Over' Color on a website about Diversity. Therefore it made me think is race a problem that just Caucasians have or is this a problem that all races have. While some might say that Caucasians have a bigger problem with race than African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanic Americans, Arab Americans, Asian Americans or other races but the truth of the matter is Caucasians are not the only ones who can not get over color. Race is an issue that exists in all communities no matter what color you are. Black, White, Brown, Yellow or Red, we all cannot get beyond color at some point in time. Color or racism as some call it exists throughout America and it is not just a problem between blacks and whites but it is a problem between all cultures and all groups of people in America.

I am not going to blame one race for the problems of another because we all play our role in creating problems. However we don't want to all accept the responsibility of our problems in society but we all want to share in the solutions or sometimes take all the glory for the solutions. We must understand that Caucasians are not the only ones who can't get over color despite the fact that they have ran America longer than any other race but the truth is that there are some black and brown people who are bigots but that doesn't mean that we all can work together to succeed in America.

America is the heartland of possibility and is the birthplace where dreams as well as the impossible can become the possible and where the unthinkable can becomes the believable. Therefore we must all understand that as long as we don't discuss race relations in America than we will always have a problem with it. A lot of racial issues have went by without fully being discussed and put out there so that all races can benefit. Senator Barack Obama started the conversation of race relations this year with his speech on race matters but now is the time to take it a step further and let's have a serious dialogue of all the races in America and why we have some people in our community with resentment, dislike or hatred for other races.

An open dialogue is needed and it is long over due. We cannot expect the issue of race or racism to be buried with the possibility of our First African American President but instead we must seriously have a full blown out discussion about it in order to come to a better understanding why some races view others in the negative light that they view them as. Thus whites can get over color as soon as the rest of the races of America and the world get over color. Until than, we can't just assume Caucasians will get over their race problems when the rest of us are not trying to get over ours. However it would be a start if Caucasians did and by the looks of this year's Democratic Presidential Primaries and Caucuses, it seems like Caucasians are starting to get over color because they participated in helping Senator Barack Obama clinch the Democratic Party Presidential nomination. So when will the rest of us start making the same effort to get beyond color and truly make America a country that is color blind.

Ready to Attack Obama, if Some Money Arrives

"A Bible verse taped to a whiteboard in Floyd Brown’s office that he uses to track his efforts to attack Senator Barack Obama reads, “That is why for Christ’s sake I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.”

Mr. Brown, 47, a 6-foot-6 bear of a man is perhaps best known for his involvement with the Willie Horton television advertisement that helped sink Michael S. Dukakis’s candidacy in 1988. Mr. Brown has had much in his career to be delighted about as the source of scores of conservative assaults on Democrats that have earned him their lasting enmity."

The first two lines above are from the New York Times article where Floyd Brown is ready to attack Barack Obama as soon as he can raise enough to do. However it seems that Senator Obama has fueled Mr. Brown even more by referring to him so much in his speeches on why he is back tracking on his pledge to accept personal finance moneys. Also Obama uses his name when describing what attacks the Republican Party and special interest groups known as 527s will do to attack him and that is why Senator Obama says he needs all the money he can get to combat such attacks. Nonetheless, Mr. Brown could play a small role in this year's election.

The website of Brown's entitled ExposeObama.com, has two videos already for commercials set to go and Brown also has many links to where Obama stood on the issue back while in the Chicago legislature and where he stands now. Now the website is quite interesting but one link Brown has up is on education which makes no sense in attacking Obama on education. It has parts of quotes or parts of stances on where Obama stands on education but from what I see, there is nothing after the quotes that brings attention to any of the flaws that Obama has on the issues.

Therefore I do encourage others to at least check out Mr. Brown's site but don't take it at its word but instead look into some of the points Mr. Brown brings up about Obama. No matter how you feel about Senator Obama, the reality is that he is a normal man and like every other politician, we all make mistakes or change our mind on different things. Thus regardless if you support Obama or not, don't expect him or any one else to be perfect but that doesn't mean they are not a good person. So regardless if all, some or none of the accusations that Mr. Brown points out regarding Obama is true or not. That should not be a reason for you not to vote for him or to vote for him. You should vote for Obama because you believe he is the best person for the job out of him and Senator John McCain.

I hope all of you understand and take heed to my words but at the same, this article caught my attention and the website pointed out an issue of the violence in the streets that take place against our youth. Thus I hope that it does air on national televisions because there is a serious war on our youth and this so called urban terrorism needs to be addressed on the Presidential campaign as well as throughout the national media more than it has got covered.

Obama apologizes to Muslim women

Senator Barack Obama did the right thing this week by finally calling the two Muslim women who were snubbed by Obama volunteers on Tuesday at an Obama rally. Senator Obama made the call and that's all I asked for and I thank for apologizing to the women and like I previously said, I hope Obama's next visit to the state of Michigan is a smooth and easy one because the last couple have not been. Therefore I applaud Obama for making the apology but I hope his next apology to the Detroit citizens about his misstatement that Detroit schools have been failing for decades when it has only been for a decade which has been since the Detroit Public Schools were taken over in 1998 by the State of Michigan. Thus stripping the citizens of Detroit of its right to elect a school board and a superintendent.

Nonetheless, I am proud of Senator Obama doing the right thing and I hope this does not happen again while the campaign trail.

Obama Raises $22 Million in May, His Weakest Month This Year

Is Senator Barack Obama's momentum stopping? I surely hope not but last month Senator Obama, the fundraising powerhouse and new power broker of fundraising raised only $22 million while his Republican rival Senator John McCain raised $21 million. The most for John McCain and the closest McCain has been to Senator Obama in fundrasing for a month this year. This comes on the heels of Obama announcing that he will not take public finance dollars so that they can raise as much money as he can and spend as much money as he wants without any restrictions. So far Obama is doing well in raising money this month as he hoped to reach 50,000 donors pledging Independence before July 4 for a real Presidential campaign ran by only the people.

So far Obama's efforts have worked as over 56,000 people had donated to the Obama campaign already this month so they increased the pledge to 70,000 people. Thus one can only hope that those 70,000 people increase Obama's fundraising efforts for the month of June so that his continued power over political fundraising stays strong and well.

Hagel Says He'd Consider An Obama VP Offer

Republican Senator Chuck Hagel from Nebraska says he would consider being Senator Barack Obama's Vice President if offered. While the news is quite shocking since Senator Obama is a Democrat but it should not surprise anyone because Senator Joe Liberman who has caucused with Democrats all his life despite being an Independent this year in the Senate, has decided to campaign for his friend and Republican Presidential nominee John McCain. Also Senator Liberman has decided to speak at the Republican National Convention in Minnesota in August.

That's why Senator Hagel is could perhaps be a wild card to Senator Obama in winning the Presidency. So this could be the first time ever in American Presidential history where we have both parties in the White House with a Democrat as President and a Republican as Vice President. This truly could be action in the right direction of change. Therefore if this shall happen than I applaud Senator Obama for taking the right step in the right direction toward bring about change. This will truly be a historical Presidency in many ways if Senator Obama wins the Presidency and choose Chuck Hagel as his running mate. However if he was to choose to a Republican as a Vice Presidential running mate than I would prefer an Obama-Powell ticket. That is my bi-partisan Dream Ticket that I feel can really bring about real change in America and the world.
What a Dream Ticket!

Open Society Institute Launches Campaign to Promote Black Men and Boys' Achievement

Finally, a campaign to help promote the achievements of black men and boys. I found this article to be really intriguing and the actuality of the matter is that black men and boys don't get enough props for the achievements we make. Yes, we have Barack Obama possibly becoming President of the United States of America but the reality is that we don't hear much about African American males achievements in general. We always here about the negative stories regarding African American males that make the front pages of newspapers and are the lead stories on news outlets but we never hear about the achievements we make such as graduating from college and winning scholarships as well as academic awards.

Now at the same time, this is a problem that not just black communities face but all races face as we don't salute the achievements of males. However in the black community, we don't commend our black males enough. We need to celebrate our black males more and commend those who do the right thing rather than always point out the flaws or mishaps of our black males. Therefore this program's aim should start to reward our black fathers who are doing right by our black mothers. We need to commend our black brothers who are doing academically phenomnal things like Ben Carson who just received the Presidential Freedom Award which is the highest award that a civilian can receive in America.

Therefore we should continue to applaud the achievements of African American males but not just the old but the young who are making strides toward making America and the world better. Finally we are making sure African American males are apart of the political and economic debate and I am proud to help with this program and any others like it in any way that I can.

Obama Assassination Exhibit May Be a Hoax, But Fears of Assassination are Real

For years, whispers and hints toward if an African American were to become President, he would be assassinated. Movies have shown it and we as a people have laughed at it but the reality is that now that it might finally happen, it is not funny whatsoever to see our first African American assassinated. Therefore if we see Senator Barack Obama become President, it is a fear in many of our eyes that a possible assassination could loom. We quietly whisper about it and talk about it in private circles but the truth of the matter is that the fear is ever so real. Therefore we have to face reality that the fear of assassination is real and that the fears will not go away until Senator Obama completes his first term or both terms in office without being harmed. However time will tell all things and I pray that God blesses Senator Barack Obama's family and himself.

Obama's Beat Up on Black Males Fans Old Stereotypes

Well folks, I know a lot of you probably thought I was a little over the top on Monday, the day after Senator Barack Obama delivered a speech regarding absentee fathers. I know I probably was very critical of Obama and saying that he should check the news media about saying that he gave a speech to Absentee Black Fathers. So here is my apology to Senator Obama and the news media. I apologize to you guys for not doing my research and having data to prove to you that black fathers who are not in the home with their children keep in touch with their families more than white fathers according to research done by Boston University professor Rebekah Levine Cole.

Thus the research proves that what I was saying is correct. Absentee fathers is an American issue and not just an African American issue. I know black fathers don't do what they are suppose to do all the time but let's face it, when it comes to the love of a child, there are many fathers who might be able to provide for their child or children financially but make up for it with the love and care they show them. I have several nieces and nephews and one thing that I do know is that my nephews in particularly love their fathers dearly. Despite the fact that around their birthdays and holidays that they receive little to nothing from their fathers, they continue to want to see fathers and spend time with them.

So it is true that African American fathers are short on economic help to provide their children but on love and care they are big on. Trust me I know. I have seen firsthand, a grown man cry over the fact that he couldn't provide more for his children because my dad is a father who works hard everyday to pay the bills and every night when he gets home from work, I can see the hurt in his eyes when my birthday comes around or a holiday comes around and he can't give more than what some of my friends have. I love my father dearly and while he has never been an absentee father, he is a father who has financially struggled since the day I was born and before my parents and separated and divorce.

Therefore I commend Senator Obama for his speech on absentee fathers because this is an American issue that needs to be addressed but let's be clear, there are always going to be fathers who just economically and financially can not provide for their children that other fathers can but that does not mean that they are absent from their children's lives. This article points out how Obama and the news media got it wrong once again on a critical issue and how they used the race game to bring up a stereotype that just isn't true. Black Fathers are more connected to their homes than white fathers and this research as well as this article proves that my thoughts on the matter were originally right. However I am not going to say I told you so but simply say that I know how good African American fathers are and how much they have struggled to over turn the negative stereotypes that are portrayed on the African American community and the fathers of our community.

I hope this encourages those African American fathers who are absent from the home with their children but not completely absent from their lives to continue to make the African American community proud with all the support, love, care and whatever financial support you provide. Stay blessed and strong because you are the ones who raised me and you are the ones who along with me will raise the next generation of children in the African American community. Don't get me wrong, the mothers are the backbone to any family structure and they are ones who do majority of the work for the family. However fathers in the black community are slowly coming back but they still have a long way to go in order to do half the things that mothers do already.

I am proud that others found the Barack Obama speech to be so wrong but this is not the last blunder of Senator Obama this week but it is one that made me mad that the news media and Obama supporters did not find a problem with the message. In fact some Obama supporters say that his message was right on point but if the news media says it was aimed toward black fathers than is that fair and was the message clearly heard by all. That's why articles like this one brings attention to the heart of the matter that absentee fathers is not a black issue but an American issue and that's the truth no matter how one looks at it.

Obama team weighs Nunn, Edwards as running mates

It seems that former Senators John Edwards of North Carolina and Sam Nunn of Georgia are at the top of a short list of Vice Presidential candidates for Senator Barack Obama. Also on the short list are former Vice President Al Gore who recently endorsed Obama on Monday at a rally in Detroit. Also Senator Clinton's name is on the list as well as a couple of Governors. However it is like I previously said, Senator Obama has until early August to choose his Vice Presidential candidate and if the polls stay the way they are than he can choose whoever he wants but if the polls change between now and August than Senator Obama will have to make a decision on whether he wants to win in November without much of a fight or rather he wants a long fight.

Now if he wants the first choice of an easy fight than he will have to choose Senator Clinton as his Vice President. I should state that no political race is ever easy as long as you have an opponent but some polls show that an Obama-Clinton ticket beats any McCain ticket outright except for a McCain-Rice or McCain-Powell. Those two McCain ticket options are what many Democrats fear as well as McCain perhaps choosing a Democrat as his Vice President than that could spell some trouble. While the Republicans fear the Dream Ticket of Obama-Clinton, they fear the option that Obama might choose a Republican like Chuck Hagel as his Vice President or Michael Bloomberg, an independent.

Right now it is too early for at least Obama to choose his Vice Presidential candidate but for McCain, he can make his choice any day now but that is up to him. I am just excited to see who the Presidential candidates will choose as their running mates. Either way, Sam Nunn and John Edwards seem to be at the top of the list according to many sources along with Al Gore. However if Al Gore's on the ticket than I will definitely not be voting for Obama because I can't have a weak link and a quitter in the White House as the number 2. I'm sorry it is Gore's fault that we have Bush and his administration. So Gore instead of the Global Warming crisis you are fighting, you should have been fighting the Bush crisis that you failed to fight for.
I wish Senator Obama best of luck in choosing his Vice President but please don't choose Al Gore or I will be campaigning so hard against Gore not you but Gore cause quitters need to stay asleep and behind the scenes like Gore has been doing until he decided to fight global warming. I only wish he had fought this hard in 2000 for the Presidency which he won. With that being said, Senator Obama has a great list to choose from like voters had a great list of Democrats to choose from for this year's 2008 Presidential elections. Well now like voters in this country had a tough choice on choosing who they would support, now Senator Obama will have a tough choice in choosing the right Vice Presidential candidate.

DPS: $400M deficit can be wiped out with cuts, layoffs

It seems although Detroit Public Schools received a new superintendent last summer, my beloved school system is still failing at getting it right. While all the blame shouldn't be placed on Superintendent Connie Calloway but a good share of it is her fault as well as our school boards fault. While Calloway and the School Board are planning to get Detroit Public Schools out of the red tape by laying off nearly 1,400 employers in order to balance the Districts budget. However the way they plan to do is what I am questioning.

Calloway and the Board plans to lay off nearly 818 teachers and majority of them are the new and young teachers who just came to the board. Therefore I am deeply hurt by the fact that this is the type of solution that Calloway and the Detroit School Board has come up with because it is teachers that any school system should try to keep. Calloway and the Board have failed the Detroit Public School which despite what Senator Barack Obama said on Monday while in Detroit at rally, has not been failing for decades. In fact Detroit Public Schools just recently started failing after the State took DPS over in a school takeover, strapping the citizens of Detroit of their right to elect a school board until 2005 when a new board was finally elected.

Nonetheless, Detroit finds its self in a situation where they want to lay off teachers but not cut any of the salaries of those who work downtown at any of the school center buildings. Also I don't see Calloway or any Board members saying they are taking a pay cut in order to help meet the needs of the deficit. So it is important that the citizens of Detroit realize that what is happening to Public Education in Detroit is a shame. At the current rate of having a superintendent and board members who don't care about kids, than Public Education is Detroit will surely no longer exist. While I saw hundreds of thousands of folks line up to meet Senator Obama and hear his speech, I see no huge rallies or protests in front of any School Board members houses or Calloway's house for their inability to find solutions to the problems that ail the Detroit Public School system.

I find the fact that many teachers were not out there protesting and picking tonight's school board meeting is a shame. Do we even care any more about our children's education. If we care than we would understand that real change in politics starts with education. When you an 11 member school board with 10 of them not having experience in Detroit Public Schools as teachers, counselors or administers. It makes me question who elected these people. Its not enough to simply stay in the city of Detroit and say you went to DPS but you need to really know the system as it currently sits. Many of the Board members are employed by big corporations or sit on boards of companies that have a vested interest in destroying DPS schools and bringing in charters which is currently about to happen.

Calloway inherited a failing school system at Normandy and she didn't turn that district around so I don't understand why our school board thought something would be different because she inherited a failing district here and in her first year, no one can tell you what improvements she has made and that is including practically the same board members who elected her to be superintendent knowing that she has never dealt with a district of this size before. Thus the $400 million deficit that can be wiped out by cuts and layoffs could have been avoided if our board had hired a more suitable person for the job. So it brings me to question the motives of many of our school board members in hiring Calloway saying she was the best person for the job. Now a year later and many are saying the honeymoon is over. This is truly a sad day for the city of Detroit after a promising week that started with perhaps the first African American President in the United States of America coming to Joe Louis arena to speak in hopes of garnering votes.

Calloway does share some of the blame herself because while she was bringing in many of her former staff from Normandy, she should have had a plan for the first 90 days she was to take office. However Calloway's first 90 day plan consisted of hiring her staff and giving them huge pay raises like the School Board gave her when she was hired as superintendent. So since we are facing a $400 million deficit, you would think Calloway would be laying off many of her staff or at least cutting their pay but that is not the case.

It is idiots like these politicians that give Detroit a bad name and if we the citizens of Detroit don't do something this problem soon than we will be facing the complete dismantling of Detroit Public Schools by the Summer of 2010. I hope that is not the case but as of right now, all with a vested interest in Detroit Public Schools need to plan for the worst and pray for new leadership in Detroit Public Schools.

DPS Board Members Don't Care About Kids but Just THEMSELVES!

The Detroit Public School Board members don't care about the children in Detroit Public Schools. This is not a saying but a fact because after being elected to office in November of 2007, three board members have their eyes now set on Lansing, Michigan as they attempt to win State House of Representative seats. Yes, 3 out of our current 11 member school board who were elected last November now seek to run for State House seats this summer. Former School Board President Jimmy Womack who is an At-Large member of the school board and didn't have to face re-election last November for his board seat but faced re-election for his Board Presidency, which he was defeated for by Carla Scott. It seems as if Mr. Womack really didn't want to be School Board President any more any way because he not only filed to run for office once but twice as he is running for the soon to be vacant District 7 State Representative seat that currently Virgil Smith, Jr. holds but is term limited so he cannot run again. Therefore not only is Womack running for the seat but he is actually being endorsed by Virgil Smith for the seat, which comes as a surprise since Womack's style of politics consists of disrespecting the elderly and woman as well as being a flamboyant dresser with all his loud colors.

Next you have School Board District 3 member Annie Carter seeking the State Representative seat of District 11 which is currently held by Morris Hood III but he is term limited as well. Carter ran for re-election last November and now she is seeking to be a State Representative when she has done anything for the school board after she has been in her seat since 2005. So like Womack, Carter has not been apart of any solutions but simply is apart of the problem because since getting on the School Board, Carter has continued to allow Armark to receive millions and billions of dollars of the districts money for services that they have not did. Since Carter and Womack have been on the school board, they have closed nearly 200 schools and laid off hundreds of thousands of employers while neither one of them have ever taken a pay cut as board members. Also Carter and Womack are now recently the two most vocal board members spitting venom on Superintendent Connie Calloway saying she didn't have a vision. In fact Carter said that the gloves are off now and that the honeymoon is over. So I ask would Carter and Womack be speaking so much about Calloway if they were not running for office.

Remember it was Carter and Womack who were apart of the group of board members who hired Calloway last year, literally giving her a guaranteed 5 year contract worth roughly $1.4 million. So the question now is why are Carter and Womack trying to distance themselves from Calloway as the summer race for elected offices heats up. Well the answer is that they both know that they need as much media exposure as they can get in order to win the two State Representative seats that are vacant. Also they know at the end of the day that if they don't get the State Representatives seats, they can still go back to being on the School Board, however their real ambitions is to win. In order to win they have to expose Calloway as an idiot and have to make themselves look good by fighting to not lay off teachers and other employees.

However Carter and Womack are not the only board members seeking a State Representative seat but District 6 School Board Member Terry Catchings is seeking Bert Johnson's District 5 State Representative seat. Now Mr. Catchings is a unique fellow because two years ago who ran for this same seat and lost badly to Mr. Johnson who is the incumbent and has done a wonderful job for District 5 as he drives back and forth to Lansing each and every day to represent his district and still finds the time to attend community meetings spread throughout his district and once he's done with that, he finds time to get home to tuck his two little boys in and prepares to do all of that again. Now I say all that to say does anyone think Catchings will do the same job when as a current school board member he chooses to go party on Mackinac Island instead of giving awards at a Pershing Athletic Banquet that he had committed to. In fact Mr. Catchings reason for not attending was that Senator Martha Scott's people handled it for him. Thus can you envision Mr. Catchings doing what Bert Johnson does every weekday and weekend. I think not.

Now Catchings story doesn't end there because although Catchings ran against Johnson in 2006 and lost, he quickly turned right back around decided to run against Paula Johnson in 2007 for the District 6 School Board seat. Mr. Catchings had beat Johnson in the primaries in 2007, so I suggested to Mr. Catchings that he debate Johnson at my Alma Mater of Pershing High School. Now I regrettably have to say that Catchings is also a doughboy but I say that regrettably. Nonetheless, Catchings declined my offer to set up the debate after I got approval from the principal and the parent group to have such an event. In fact, the debate was more geared toward showcasing my Alma Mater more so than the candidates. However Catchings said he didn't want to debate Johnson because he didn't want to give her any further media exposure or attention. While Catchings went on to defeat Johnson in the General Election in November as well, he now looks to see to run for State Representative again after not having served a full year as a school board member. Thus that is a major sign to me that Catchings doesn't care about the children.

Now you would think that the story with Catchings would end there but I ran into Catchings on June 3, 2008 at Pershing's 2008 Commencement ceremony where I was the Commencement Speaker. While there I heard Catchings privately trying to talk to a Pershing staff member about running for State Representative and how he is only running to keep his name out there because he wants to run for State Senate in 2010. Yes Terry Catchings wants to run for District 2 State Senator's Martha Scott's seat in 2010 because Senator Scott can't run no more due to being term limited. Now Catchings says he is only running for State Representative in 2008 because he wants to keep his name on the ballot for the third consecutive August and perhaps four if he runs for city council or mayor next year. Wow, Catchings is really planning his political career for the next 2 years. While I would like to stop there and not say anything else about Mr. Catchings but I don't like being lied out and after seeing Mr. Catchings give a brief speech at Pershing's commencement ceremony, I know now why he did not want to debate Paula Johnson last summer. It had nothing to do with not wanting to give her any more exposure but let's just say that my little cousin can speak louder than Catchings and can speak with more confidence than him.

It is clear that these three board members need to be recalled because they don't care about the children of Detroit Public Schools. All three of these members care about themselves and their political careers than the jobs they were elected to perform. Womack, Carter and Catchings are all a disgrace and the citizens of the city of Detroit need to take a stand and have rallies outside their homes because if 1,400 board employees get laid off than these three need to be laid off next. They don't need any promotions Lansing and they don't need to set on the Detroit Public School Board any more because their actions have spoken. They care about seeking higher offices than solving the economic and financial woes of Detroit Public Schools.

Therefore I hope the Detroit Teachers Union and others who work for the district gather outside the homes of Jimmy Womack, Annie Carter and Terry Catchings each and every morning and afternoon this summer until they resign from their board positions and or at least until we can recall all three board members or our entire school board for the lack of fiscal responsibility they have shown not only the citizens of Detroit but the children of Detroit.

Obama's Campaign Defends Decision to Opt Out of Public Financing

Presidential candidate Barack Obama's decision to reject public finance dollars is a decision that is admirable and is aimed toward him getting more donations from smaller donors to offset John McCain and the Republican National Committee fundraising efforts. Also this moves allows Obama to spend money as it sees fit and as long as he continues to raise the money in the 30 million plus area for the next 5 and a half months than he should do well in this year's Presidential General Election.

While Obama's decision is unprecedented. It is very smart though and quite logic since he can spend and raise as much as he sees fit. However the timing of it and the fact that he went back on his word is quite extraordinary. In a year where Obama's message of change has been about changing Washington and how politics has usually been done. It seems as if Obama has slowly started to be just like very other politician by breaking original promises. While some are criticizing the move as a broken promise which they have the right to do, it is quite a good move for Senator Obama as it looks to compete in all 50 states and looks to outspend Senator McCain by any means necessary.

Either way, this could add fuel to the Republican Parties ammo as they try to portray Obama as just another free taxing liberal politician. So time will tell whether this back fires on Senator Obama but I applaud him for looking toward winning an election and not looking toward keeping an original promise.

Obama could win vote, lose election

It is very possible that what happened in 2000 could happen again but by even a larger number. Senator Barack Obama might win the popular vote by a larger margin that what Al Gore defeated George Bush by but he could still end up losing the Electoral college to Senator McCain. Thus giving Senator McCain the presidency. While it is a very slim possibility, it is still a possibility that many Democrats are working hard to defeat. Senator Obama is the favorite and should beat Senator McCain in the popular vote hands down but the question is whether some states that Democrats won in 2000 and 2004 remain Democratic and whether some states Republicans won in 2000 and 2004 remain Republican.

With all that speculation and guessing of what states might turn blue or red this go around, it is clear that the unexpected should be expected in this year's 2008 Presidential election. If such a scenario of Obama winning the popular vote but losing the election happens than expect a backlash of people to ask Congress to change the General election process for electing a President. Thus it is very possible that this could be the year that the Electoral College could come over even more scrutiny than previously. I am not a supporter of the Electoral College but the reality is that if the above scenario occurs than I expect many more people to fight to get rid of the Electoral College once and for all. Thus making the Presidential elections like every other election where the person who wins the popular vote gets the Presidency.

Only time will tell on this matter but it is clear that their is a slight possibility that such an occurrence can happen and could result in the Electoral College finally being removed from our United States Constitution thus ultimately giving the people all the power to elect the next President of the United States and not a system that is based off how many congressional members a state has in the United States Congress. So POWER TO THE PEOPLE, could finally happen when it comes to Presidential elections for the first time in America's history if Senator Obama loses the Electoral College but wins the popular vote.

Politicians Bid A Fond Farewell to Tim Russert

Something that I haven't touched on lately is the passing of NBC political correspondent and Meet the Press host Tim Russert. When I heard about Tim Russert's passing, I was shocked because I didn't see it coming and I was saddened. The political news world lost a very thorough and accurate person who knew his stuff and made sure he held all politicians accountable. Tim Russert was truly one of a kind and a dynamic force. If I didn't want to be a politician than I would have wanted to be like Tim Russert because he did his thing at NBC and he transformed Meet the Press into a Sunday morning talk show that I loved to watch before or after church. Tim Russert was a great family man and he always put his family before his job which is why I commend him for doing his job with so much respect and charisma.

While most political correspondents try to talk down to their guests, Tim Russert always treated his guests with so much respect and dignity. He allowed everyone who came on his show to get a fair share of their word but still held them accountable for either previous comments they made whenever the opportunity aroused. Tim Russert was a great interviewer and a great man who uplifted and touched so many people's lives. Even in Tim's passing, we continue to learn that we can't take our health for granted and that life is truly short. While Tim wasn't in the best of shape, he was well enough and his untimely passing truly has touched us all. My heart and prayers go out to the Russert family.

Michelle Obama grateful for first lady's defense

Michelle Obama is grateful to First Lady Laura Bush for coming to her defense over the whole controversy comments about proud that Michelle made a couple of months ago. First Lady Bush told a reporter that I think she meant I am more proud of my country. However despite what Michelle Obama meant, she made a blunder with her words and now First Lady Bush is telling everyone that she she made a mistake so let's move on.

Now that's a classy non-political First Lady for you who just simply weathers a storm and clears the skies. Laura Bush is probably more popular than her husband President Bush and what she did for Michelle Obama shows that she has nothing but class and a wealth of wisdom as well as an abundance of kindness. While Michelle is thankful and grateful for what First Lady Laura Bush did for, I am more grateful that First Lady bush hasn't tried to hog the spot light the last 8 years and simply goes about her business as a an ordinary wife should do. That's why Laura Bush would make a great political candidate because she understands the difference between politics and life. That's something a lot of politicians don't understand.

Muslims barred from picture at Obama event

Wow this article caught me off guard because while Senator Barack Obama or his campaign staff didn't bar the two women from sitting directly behind the podium on Monday at the rally in Detroit, some volunteers of the Obama camp did and that is why this is such an interesting issue. As Obama gave a speech about unity and everything, two Muslim woman felt that they were not being unified by the actions of volunteers for the Obama camp. I hope that Senator Obama goes and makes a personal apology to both woman because what happened on Monday is not good for his campaign as he goes forward. I hope out treats this incident like he treated the sweetie incident in where he called a reporter sweetie. It seems like every time Obama comes to Michigan, he leaves with controversial. So I look forward to his next visit to my state and I hope everything goes smoothly for him than the previous three visits.

Obama and Clinton Seek to Unite Donors in Joint Appearance

Doesn't this make your scratch your head as you hear that Senator Barack Obama is set to rack in even more money but couldn't help a young girl at Wayne County Community College in Michigan with a few bucks to help her try to pay her tuition for this school year. However Senator Obama did give her a piece of tissue to help her wipe away her tears. The reality is that Senator Clinton and Senator Obama will be sharing their big name donor lists in an effort for each to garner more money for the Democratic run toward the White House. While Senator Clinton needs the money to reportedly pay off campaign debt and Senator Obama needs the money to outspend the Republican Party and his opponent John McCain because his own Democratic Party aren't raising enough for him.

Therefore as millions of Americans suffer, Senator Obama and Senator Clinton continue to raise money but this time together. Haven't both of them raised enough money to stimulate our economy themselves. Apparently not cause our economy is still messed up and is plummeting each and every day. However that hasn't stopped Senator Clinton or Senator Obama from racking in record breaking fundraising dollars for any Presidential candidates. In fact they rank number 1 and 2 all time in that category and the election isn't until November. I am going to put it like this, I will work for any campaign that pays me at least $10 an hour for my services. I will knock doors, do phone banking and register people to vote no matter the neighborhood or the city. I will do what it takes as long as Senator Obama and the Democratic Party pay me my asking price.

While I wish that was the case, Senator Obama couldn't even give that young lady any assistance yesterday with our tuition but instead offered her a piece of tissue to wipe her tears away but her tears will only come back cause she still doesn't have enough for tuition. I hope one of Senator Obama's new big donors that he will receive from Senator Clinton reaches out to the young lady and pay the rest of her tuition for her because a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Well enough Obama bashing for today because he's not the only politician who continues to raise funds but never tries to help others obtain their dreams and goals when the opportunity to help is right before them. This is the third time Senator Obama in less than two weeks that he has failed to capitalize on GOLDEN opportunities that could really help him come November.

Therefore those who ripped Hillary for accepting campaign money from a little boy who sold his bike and games to help Senator Clinton than I hope you are even more mad at Senator Obama for his actions on Tuesday. He couldn't even offer her a dollar or two to get her started or solicit help for her. Man this is a low point in politics. If you don't believe me than here's a copy of links for you to look at at the with each story telling a different tail. The Detroit Free Press tells that the school told Obama that they found a grant for her and that's why she broke down in tears. However either one, its a shame that our politicians can't do more than wipe our tears away and pat us on the back saying everything will be okay when they could offer to host a fundraiser for a person or give someone a few bucks here and there.

But who I am to judge, I'm just a poor kid from Detroit trying to help any and all those I encounter who I offer my help too as long as they really seek me out after I offer it. While Senator Obama continue to campaign and raise money and hopefully Marilynn does get that grant that her school said she is getting.

Obama beats McCain in three swing states: poll

Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama is finally getting the tide to turn his way in the latest Presidential polls released since Senator Hillary Clinton dropped out the race. If the current polls hold up than America will have its first African American President in Barack Obama. Current polls in three key swing states show Senator Obama defeating Republican Presidential nominee John McCain in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Thus if the current odds hold up and Obama wins all the states that Kerry won in 2004 than he will be our next President.

Also the latest polls show that many independent voters don't want Senator Clinton on the ballot as Senator Obama's Vice President. The truth of the matter is that if the current trend in polls remains until the first of August than Senator Obama will not need Senator Clinton to win the Presidency so he can choose any Vice President he wants as long as it isn't Al Gore in my opinion. Nonetheless, Obama and his camp has to be loving the latest polls this week and if the current trend remains than he is in good shape to continue to make history.

However, we all know that it is too early to really judge polls right now but currently McCain is in dead water if the polls continue to trend Obama. But its not over until the fat lady sings and McCain still has time to catch up, while Obama still has time to increase his lead in the polls or at least maintain it.

Is McCain Like Bush? It Depends on the Issue

While many Democrats including Senator Barack Obama try to say that McCain is like President Bush but the reality is that it depends on the issue. The Associated Press really gets more in depth on the this topic but its like I have been saying for a while that John McCain is no Bush by any means. Therefore, Democrats better be wary of trying to compare McCain and Bush and they better be careful of how they attack McCain because he is not your typical Republican. Therefore I encourage many people to read the article and find out for themselves where not only Senator McCain stands on the issues but where Senator Obama and every other politician stands on the issues that plague you as an individual. Also look at their voting records if they are a current elected official and find out the truth.

ASSOCIATED PRESS: WASHINGTON (AP) Hillary Rodham Clinton and likely Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama met privately Thursday night to talk about uniting the Democratic Party, an Obama spokesman said. Gibbs would not say where the former rivals met, except that it was not at Clinton's home in Washington, as had been widely reported. Reporters traveling with Obama sensed something might be happening between the pair might when they arrived at Dulles International Airport after an event in Northern Virginia and Obama was not aboard the airplane. Asked at the time about the Illinois senator's whereabouts, Gibbs smiled and declined to comment. Canadian Powerbrokers at Bilderberg

Jay-Z - History

(Jay-Z - History)Jay-Z - History with Lyrics

LYRICS : [Chorus: Cee-lo]
Now that all the smoke is gone
(Lighter)
And the battle's finally won
(Gimme a lighter)
Victory (Lighters up) is finally ours
(Lighters up)
History, so long, so long
So long, so long

[Verse 1: Jay-Z]
In search of victory, she keeps eluding me
If only we could be together momentarily
We can make love and make history
Why won't you visit me? until she visit me
I'll be stuck with her sister, her name is defeat
She gives me agony, so much agony
She brings me so much pain, so much misery
Like missing your last shot and falling to your knees
As the crowd screams for the other team
I practice so hard for this moment, victory don't leave
I know what this means, I'm stuck in this routine
Whole new different day, same old thing
All I got is dreams, nobody else can see
Nobody else believes, nobody else but me
Where are you victory? I need you desperately
Not just for the moment, to make history

[Chorus: Cee-lo]
Now that all the smoke is gone
(Lighters)
And the battle's finally won
(Lighters)
Victory is finally ours
(Yeah)
History (yeah), so long, so long
So long, so long

[Verse 2: Jay-Z]
So now I'm flirting with death, hustling like a G
While victory wasn't watching took chances repeatedly
As a teenage boy before acne, before I got proactiv I couldn't face she
I just threw on my hoodie and headed to the street
That's where I met success, we'd live together shortly
Now success is like lust, she's good to the touch
She's good for the moment but she's never enough
Everybody's had her, she's nothing like V
But success is all I got unfortunately
But I'm burning down the block hoppin' in and out of V
But something tells me that there's much more to see
Before I get killed because I can't get robbed
So before me success and death ménage
I gotta get lost, I gotta find V
We gotta be together to make history

[Chorus: Cee-lo]
Now that all the smoke is gone
(Lighters. Up.)
And the battle's finally won
(Lighter. Up.)
Victory is finally ours
(Lighters. Up.)
History, so long, so long
So long, so long

[Verse 3: Jay-Z]
Now victory is mine, it tastes so sweet
She's my trophy wife, you're coming with me
We'll have a baby who stutters repeatedly
We'll name him history, he'll repeat after me
He's my legacy, son of my hard work
Future of my past, he'll explain who I be
Rank me amongst the greats, either 1, 2, or 3
If I ain't number one then I failed you victory
Ain't in it for the fame that dies within weeks
Ain't in it for the money, can't take it when you leave
I wanna be remembered long after you grieve
Long after I'm gone, long after I breathe
I leave all I am in the hands of history
That's my last will and testimony
This is much more than a song, it's a baby shower
I've been waiting for this hour, history you ours

[Chorus: Cee-lo (2x)]
Now that all the smoke is gone
And the battle's finally won
Victory is finally ours
History, so long, so long
So long, so long

Man in the Mirror--By Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson - Man in the mirror

I'm gonna make a change,
for once im my life
It's gonna feel real good,
gonna make a diference
Gonna make it right...

As I, turn up the collar on
my favorite winter coat
This wind is blowing my mind
I see the kids in the streets,
with not enought to eat
Who am I to be blind?
Pretending not to see their needs

A summer disregard,a broken bottle top
And a one man soul
They follow each other on the wind ya' know
'Cause they got nowhere to go
That's why I want you to know

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
(If you wanna make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
(Take a look at yourself, and then make a change)
(Na na na, na na na, na na, na nah)

I've been a victim of a selfish kind of love
It's time that I realize
That there are some with no home, not a nickel to loan
Could it be really me, pretending that they're not alone?

A willow deeply scarred, somebody's broken heart
And a washed-out dream
(Washed-out dream)
They follow the pattern of the wind ya' see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me
(Starting with me!)

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Ooh!)
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
(If you wanna make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
(Take a look at yourself, and then make a change)

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Change his ways - ooh!)
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that..
(Take a look at yourself and then make that..)
CHANGE!

I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Man in the mirror - Oh yeah!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Better change!)
No message could have been any clearer
(If you wanna make the world a better place)

A Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cook

It's been a long time coming but a change is surely going to come in America and the World! I am the Future of America and the World and that is the message that each of us must carry with us each and every day that we wake up on Earth! I am the Future! You are the Future! We are the Future of America and the World! That is way every election is important--primaries, special elections and general! So vote every year and hold our politicians accountable. Hold our political officials accountable by writing them, calling them and making sure they attend meetings that we the people have. "The Time for Change is not Now but Right Now!"

"EmPOWERment By Any Means Necessary" should be our anthem and should be our creed as we make the positive differences in America and the world that so many people beg for and hungry for year after year! A Change is Gonna Come, A Change is Gonna Come, that's what we must say as we say "God grants us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, Courge to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference" each morning before we go about the task of making a positive change in America and the world a reality.

Born In The U.S.A. - Bruce Springsteen

“When will people realize that we are Americans first and foremost, not Democrats or Liberals, not Republicans or Conservatives, not Independents or moderates. We are Americans. Stop putting a political party above America and stop putting any politican above America. America succeeds because of us the people holding our government responsible no matter the political party because the main two political parties are to blame for the condition America is in."—Hodari P.T. Brown

America with its flaws and all is a country I am proud to have been born in. America is not perfect but my love for it is perfect. That’s why all Americans must realize that we are all Americans. In fact we are Americans first and foremost. We are not Democrats or Republicans. We are Americans.

We are not Muslims, Christians or Jews. We are Americans. Too many times we recognize our differences with others rather than appreciating our similarities which are, we are Americans. We are Americans first and foremost, no matter if we were born here or moved here legally. We are all Americans, here in this country to make not only our lives better but the lives of other Americans better so future Americans can enjoy the rights and freedoms that make us all Americans.

We are all Americans. We are one party united under God. We are Americans and this is the only political party that matters. We are Americans and this is our country so let’s make sure that we make America better than how we found it so future Americans can live prosperous and joyous lives. We are Americans and must not ever forget that.

America will prosper as long we make sure we are doing our part to make it prosper and that means we can’t put any political party or politician above America. Long live America forever and long live America’s service to the world. Together, America and the world will prosper for future generations to enjoy America and the world we live in.

Lift Every Voice and Sing

This video of the ' Negro National Anthem' was originally screened at the historic African-American Church Inaugural Ball in Washington, DC on January 18th, 2009. Many of the esteemed individuals featured in this video in attendance and we presented with the ' Keepers of the Flame' award for the monumental contributions to social justice.

This version of the song was performed by the Grace Baptist Church Cathedral Choir, conducted by Derrick James. The video was produced and donated by Ascender Communications, LLC (www.ascender-c.com) at the request of The Balm In Gilead, Inc.

If I Was President--Wyclef Jean

If I was President that is the people's anthem. We all have ideas of what we can do as President and through this website, we will fulfill our deam as a people!

Somethings Gotta Give--Big Boi ft Mary J Blige

Somethings Gotta Give people and it begins today for all us to make sure that something is us. We the people are sick and tired of suffering. Where is our piece of the Dream that so many people dead for so that we all could see today. This is our time people to change America and the world so that the Next Generation has a better future than the past we inherited.

This is our call to service. This isn't about one political candidate or one political figure. This is about us as people coming together to finally leave up to our potential and achieving the great feats that those before us have achieved. This is our moment to lead our nation and our world to greater heights.

Somethings gotta give people and it starts with us the people making it happen. We have to improve our education system in America. We have to rid the world of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We have to go to the streets and lift a hand to another in order to decrease poverty in this world. We have to take a stand today and make sure that the future of America and the world is brighter than it has ever been.

Somethings Gotta Give and that is why we must "Remember Each One, Reach One and Teach One so America's future and the World's future continues to prosper."

John Legend - "If You're Out There"

If you're out there than you need to get started in helping to change America and the world. The world and America won't change until you get involved in making the changes you want to see in this world. If you're out there, than you must know that tomorrow started now and today started yesterday so you are behind in helping to the change. If you are tired of hatred, racism, poverty, war, and violence than the time to change it is now. If you want universal health care, world peace, democracy for every nation, equal rights, and happiness for all than you must get involved now to help the save world.

You must believe in the change that you want to see and you must act on making that change a reality. If you're out there than say it aloud and show the rest of America and the world that you're out here to make a real positive change in the communities we stay in. If you're out there than get involved now. I'm calling every women and men to join me as we take back our country right here, right now. If you're out there than the future started yersterday and we are already late so we have lots of work to do but I know we can do it together as one.

YES WE CAN

Yes We Can accomplish anything that we set out to do! We don't need charismatic or inspirational leaders to believe in ourselves and to take responsiblity for our own faith, we just need each other. Yes We Can build a new America and a new world if each of us would take action now to make the changes that we want to see in the world. Yes We Can control government by holding our political officials accountable for their actions by calling them out when they don't pass legislation that supports the common good of all man and by voting in every election to ensure that we have people representing the people locally, state wide, nationally and in the world.

Yes We Can be great! Yes We Can be what we want to be! Yes We Can be glorious in not only America but the world! Yes We can put action behind our worlds and change the world starting right here, right now! Yes We Can as Republicans, Democrats and Independents become one as we freely think about our fellow men and women and make decisions that will be in the best interest of all people and not one single group.

Yes We Can be the change that we want to see in the world! Yes We Can show the world that the youth are ready to lead! Yes We Can put our egos, our social economic statuses, our religions, our educational statuses and our skin color to the side for the better good of the world! Yes We Can be Greater than we have ever been and help others be Greater than they have ever be!

YES WE CAN and YES WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS IN ALL THAT WE DO! YES WE CAN, no matter what others may say, we will be glorious! YES WE WILL and YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN!

YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN is what will be sung from every mountaintop, every riverbank, every household, every school yard, every factory, every sporting event, every college campus and even every place you can imagine in the world is where YES WE CAN, will be said and heard!

YES WE CAN!

Keep On Pushing - Curtis Mayfield & the Impressions

Wake Up People! No matter who is elected to any public office, we have to “Keep On Pushing” as a people to make sure they don’t leave us in a worst state than what they inherited. We as a people have to “Keep On Pushing” to make a difference in the lives of others. We have to have an “EmPOWERment By Any Means Necessary” attitude as we continue to push our agenda that we the people deserve and want better. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to bring about change in a positive way that will benefit all Americans no matter their age, their religion or skin color. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to bring about change that will improve our education system, improve our military, improve our national security, improve our healthcare system and improve our economy. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to bring about change that will leave America’s future in a better than how we found it and that will leave the world’s future in a better state than we imagined we could live it. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to make life better for our neighborhoods, our families and even our quote on quote enemies. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to inspire, to uplift and to guide those who need help spiritually, physically and mentally. We have to “Keep On Pushing ” so that our lives, our future generation’s lives and the lives of those who came before us does not die in vein.

The moment has come for us as a nation of people to finally wake up and realize that our destiny and fate in society has rests on our shoulders. We cannot allow the forces of evil and darkness to drain us out. We have to continue to overcome all odds in order to make the future of our nation better and the future of future generations of Americans better. We have to continue to pray to our Lord and we have to continue to uplift each other in prayer as well as take action against those things that are trying to destroy us. We have to stand up once and for all and be the future that we want to be. Now is our time and we shall do together by any means necessary.

This video was created to inspire young African-Americans not to fall prey to some of the problems they face in society. The use of the voice "Master of Darkness" represents evil, which is where the blame of all problems should be placed, and not on any one group of people. This video should not to be used to divide people (Black & White), there are images of heroes that are white in this video, and there are images of Black & White coming together with the words of Dr. King in the background. Some of the images from the past can be unsettling, but they are used to show all Americans how far we have come, and how far we still have to go. This film is being strategically placed in school systems, churches and youth orgs around the country, in hope of helping a lost generation of kids that we as Americans have forgotten. As fellow Americans we must continue to love each other, and take that love and spread it to the rest of the world. **THIS VIDEO IS NOT FOR SALE & I AM NOT ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR THE FILM, I ONLY WANT THE MESSAGE TO REACH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT ANY HIDDEN POLITICAL OR FINANCIAL AGENDA.

Sitting On the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding

"The time for sitting is over! The time for action is now! The time for hope without action is hopeless! The time for change without a positive attitude is a change that we can't believe in! We need change that is positive of helping all people! Our time for action is now, our time for hope is now, our time for change is now and our time to believe that we can do whatever we set our minds to is not now but right now!"

STAR SPANGLED BANNER

The Star-Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key

O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming;
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, now conceals, now discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream;
'Tis the star-spangled banner; O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave,
From the terror of flight and the gloom of the grave;
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave!

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land,
Praise the power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just.
And this be our motto— "In God is our trust; "
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.

Our Time is not now but Right Now! Our Time has finally come to change the world not now but Right Now! If you don't believe that we can change the world than watch as we do it by changing your mind into believing in us and what we can do! This is OUR TIME RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!

FIGHT THE POWER

We got to FIGHT THE POWER! We can no longer sit on the sidelines and watch injustices take place. We can no longer sit by and allow our right to vote to become unexercised. We must FIGHT THE POWER for our past, present and future! We can no longer allow our rights to be oppressed and our voice to become drained by the powers at be. We must FIGHT THE POWER and show that we have a lot to say that needs to be heard by the mainstream media. We must FIGHT THE POWER and live up to our potential as dynamic, unbelievable and phenomenal people.

We must not believe the hype but we must become the hype. We are not Harriett Tubman, Marcus Garvey, MLK, Malcolm X, Booker T. Washington, Carter G. Woodson, W.E.B. DuBois, the Black Panther Party, SNCC, or any other activists but we are the fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, uncles, aunties, and relatives of those who came before us to pave the way for us to FIGHT THE POWER! We are not next Generation of leaders who will not be honored and praised until they die but that’s the fight we accept. We are not fighting the power for glory or fame but we are fighting the power for just causes that most men and women will not understand until years or decades later.

We are fighting for our sisters and brothers in Darfur, Georgia, Iraq, Iran, China and Mexico. We are speaking for those who are poor and have no food or water. We are fighting for those who are sick and dying. We are fighting for universal healthcare across the world and human rights for all people. We are fighting for rich and poor! We must FIGHT THE POWER no matter how hard and tough the road may be. We must FIGHT THE POWER for a better today and an even greater tomorrow!

FIGHT THE POWER!

PEOPLE GET READY

“People Get Ready” our time is coming! We have come too far to turn back now. Our train is coming and it is coming in waves. “People Get Ready”, we don’t need a ticket but we need faith and the Lord will help guide us as we take back America and the world. “People Get Ready” our moment is now and we are ready to see the change we want in America and the world. All we got to do is have faith, hope and prosperity. “People Get Ready” to face your fears. “People Get Ready” to face your demons and the challenges of yesterday because today and tomorrow we will conquer & be victorious. “People Get Ready” a change is coming and our actions will make sure that change is a real positive change that lasts forever.

“People Get Ready” because we have had enough of just talking but now is our time to show action. “People Get Ready” to take back America and the world. “People Get Ready” to take back our communities and to make our streets safer and schools better. “People Get Ready” to make all our dreams come true. “People Get Ready” to see a better present for everyone and a better future for future generations. “People Get Ready” to live up to your potential and to help others live up to their own potential. “People Get Ready” to move past hatred, bigotry, racism and sexism. “People Get Ready” to fulfill the dreams of those who came before us and those who will come after us.

“People Get Ready” as we make our actions speak louder than our words. “People Get Ready” to make words mean something again as we put action to back up our rhetoric. “People Get Ready” as we embark on a new journey that will re-write America’s history as well as the world’s history. “People Get Ready” as we make the lives of others better and the lives of future generations better. “People Get Ready” because all we need is faith, hope and action to make this world a better place. “People Get Ready” to make a difference. “People Get Ready” to fulfill the American dream. “People Get Ready" to live out the American Dream as our founding fathers wanted us to live it. “People Get Ready” because our time is now, our moment is now and our moment in time to change America & the world is not now but right now. “People Get Ready” because a change is coming!

Alicia]
(Let me tell you now)
People get ready, there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket, you just thank the lord

[Lyfe]
People get ready, for a train to Jordan
Picking up passengers coast to coast
Faith is the key, open the doors and board them
There's hope for all among those loved the most

[Alicia]
There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all man kind just to save his own (believe me now)
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
For there's no hiding place against the kingdoms throne

[Alicia & Lyfe]
So people get ready there's a train coming
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels humming,
You don't need no ticket, you just thank the lord
