My Perspective: The Heroin of Government Slavery
I come before you today to ask you, when we will start to be independent and not dependent on our government. Too many times we look for our government to rescue us and give us assistance to the problems that we are facing in our homes. Too many times we are being put on government handouts that we continuously look for when times are bad.
When will we be independent people? When will we expect nothing from our government and more from ourselves? Our government is enslaving us to be dependent on them to be solutions to all that ails us. Our government is the heroin addiction that swiped through our communities in the 1980s. Our government is killing our soul’s people and our passion to be independent.
Look around you people. Look at your neighborhoods and your communities and tell me what the government has done to improve the conditions you live in. So why do we expect our government to rescue us from the financial crisis we are dealing with as well as the housing debacle we are facing continuously. Look around you people and ask yourself what the government has done to improve education.
Government is not the answer to our problems people. Government does more harm than good. Think about it people, every time a state government inherits a school system, does it improve it or harm it. Every time a state government puts a city or town in receivership, how long does it take the city or town to recover under state receivership? Be real people, look around you and ask yourself what the government has done to improve your conditions.
The government is not the answer to our problems. They never have and never will solve all our problems. So why we do continuously expect more from the government when they don’t offer much to begin with? We need more than just what they offer us. In fact we need ourselves more than we need the government. We don’t need government handouts but we need some self-responsibility. We need to be responsible for our actions people.
The governments’ social programs do more harm than good. It puts many of our people on crutches that so many would rather remain on than to walk by themselves. They are poising our minds, our bodies and our souls to believe that they are doing us a favor.
Wake up people, the government is not the solution to all our woes. The government has never provided us with the answers that we need and this is why we cannot expect the government to provide us with solutions to everything that ails us.
Come on people, we don’t need simply hand outs but we need opportunities that will help us become better people. We can’t expect the government to provide us with these opportunities all the time but we must expect for ourselves to provide each other with these opportunities.
We can’t be feed this drug time and time again that makes us dependent on the government rather than independent. We need to look to ourselves and reach to each other more than we look to the government.
Our government continues to shell out assistance after assistance that many of us take in daily. The dosages get bigger and bigger than when the dosages are no longer there for us, we don’t know what to do. In fact once these dosages get less or are gone, we don’t know how we will survive.
Come on people, stop being dependent on these government social programs that make us dependent on the government. Wake up people, the government is the drug supplier and they are providing us with the heroin they want us to have in order to create the haves and have not’s. Those who have don’t have because they looked for government hand outs and those who have nothing are the very one’s the government continues to prey on.
We need to demand more people from ourselves and less from our government. Wake up and realize that the government is not doing us all the good they try to portray to us when they are putting us on crutches. Wake up and realize that the government isn’t helping us out of poverty but they are placing us further in it. Wake up and realize that the government is not solving all our problems but they are causing more harm than what they sought out to solve.
Think about it people, our government is enslaving us to believe that they can help us. They are enslaving us to think that when things are going wrong in this country, our government can solve it. Think about it people, our government always reacts to the times instead of being proactive to the times. The government is enslaving us the American people to believe that they can solve problems as they occur.
Wake up people, how they can solve the problems once they occur but they can’t prevent them from happening. Let’s be real to ourselves people. We can’t continue to be blind to the facts. We don’t need the government to save us. We don’t need government hand-outs people. We need less government not more government.
When will we learn people? When will we learn that more government does more harm than good and that’s why our founding fathers believed in little government not big government. Look around us, the only industry that is growing in America is the government. The government is hiring like never before while everyone else is firing or making cuts.
We don’t need the government poison in our communities any longer. Look around you people, look at all the government poison and the doses that have plagued our people. The American people are hurting because of the heroin our government gives them in the form of social programs. Our people are too dependent on government and don’t know how to survive without many of these social programs.
If our government really wanted to help us as a people than they would make sure these social programs help us in terms of educating our people rather than simply putting our people in slavery that they can’t get out of. The heroin of government slavery is real people.
Wake up people and realize what they are doing to us as people. Don’t be fooled by their tricks people. The heroin of government slavery must end not now but right now. The dependency must end and independency must reign supreme. Wake up people! Wake up now before it is too late! Wake up and end the heroin of government slavery.
Stimulus Package Compromise
The compromise is $49 billion dollars lower than the Senate version and it is $30 billion dollars lower than the House version. While neither side got everything they wanted, all parties involved in the deal compromise say they couldn’t afford for nothing to get done. House Democrats said that they are not happy entirely with the compromise but they can’t afford to hold things up in these dire economic times. The 3 moderate Republicans who voted for the Senate version of the stimulus package said that the compromise is a major step in the right direction. While it is not perfect, it is something that many of their colleagues will be proud regardless of where they actually stand on the issue.
Therefore now that the quote unquote stimulus package has been agreed to and is in the process of being drafted, it is clear that President Barack Obama will be signing the piece of legislation by Friday which many politicians on the Hill are hoping for. All the bickering on the Hill has come to a standstill now that this compromise has been made. So the economic recovery of the United States should be as early of next month that is what many Americans are hoping for. While the details of how the money will be distributed are unclear, it is clear that the American people are optimistic about the quote unquote stimulus package.
The House and the Senate compromise does save the American people tax dollars but not a whole lot. Regardless of that, the compromise is a step in the right direction toward bi-partisan that is what many on the Hill hope for and even the Obama administration is working toward. If the compromise sticks and both the House and the Senate vote for the passage of the bill than it will be an incredible feat that will help the Obama administration put their plans for economic relief in the right direction as they have always wanted.
The stimulus package compromise is surely not something that many members of both the House and the Senate want because it leaves out billions that some of the politicians on the hill want. Also the stimulus package compromise does create fewer jobs than expected because it will only create 3 million jobs rather than the 4 million that President Obama and others have previously mentioned. Thus the judging of President Obama and the Democratic Party begins because they are the ones whose hands are all over this quote unquote economic stimulus package. So if it succeeds than President Obama and the Democratic Party will succeed but if it fails than no re-election for Obama and the Democratic Party will see its numbers shrink on the Hill.
Time will tell all things but for now the stimulus package compromise is being celebrated by President Barack Obama and his administration. The stimulus package compromise is something that many Americans are looking forward to because they need the assistance now.
The GOP Must Compete in K-16 Education and Ideology by Akindele AKinyemi
Most people who lean liberal have a fundamental belief that government should take care of the people. They instill this natural belief from the home to the school to the church. Does this put urban conservatives in a bind?
Absolutely not.
The purpose of free market education is to produce a new educational market in K-16 instruction. One of the major reasons why I push for additional quality charter schools in areas such as Detroit and Flint because we do have an obligation to change the current educational system. While charter schools have to follow the same state mandates as traditional public schools there is some flexibility in terms of designing the curriculum and educational leadership of the institution.
Education is both a civil right and silver right issue. Methodically, both political parties have acknowledged the fact that there is a greater need for charter schools in urban areas, however, the two differ on how charters should play a role in increasing academic achievement.
Democrats who are pro-choice (in the sense of charter schools) feel that there is a need for more options but those options should be limited so the traditional school district will not go bankrupt. Republicans who are pro-choice (in the sense of educational choice) feel that failing school districts such as Detroit should be dissolved and replaced with charter or educational management companies maintaining the institutions.
Neither approaches will work unless there are stakeholders at the table. Stakeholders include community groups, police, parents and get this, young educators who can relate to the students better than someone who has been in the system for 35 years.
But in terms of balancing out the equation when it comes to "liberals" running the schools and indoctrinating our children with foolishness it will take dedication from urban conservatives to get involved in the educational process to uplift our children from poverty.
Education must have a balance approach to solving the social ills in our community. I know for a fact at the university level the liberal way of educating our children has gotten way out of hand. I mean when students are paying for courses that foster social thought and not critical thought then we are breeding a new generation of liberal thought.
We do know that 72 percent of those teaching at American universities and colleges are liberal and 15 percent are conservative, according to March, 2005 Washington Post article I was recently researching. The imbalance is almost as striking in partisan terms, with 50 percent of the faculty members surveyed identifying themselves as Democrats and 11 percent as Republicans.
The disparity is even more pronounced at the most elite schools, where, according to the study, 87 percent of faculty are liberal and 13 percent are conservative.
The biggest issue is how there are few conservatives in K-16. It's worse in higher education. Religious services take a back seat for many faculty members, with 51 percent saying they rarely or never attend church or synagogue and 31 percent.
A bigger concern is the fact how a majority of the faculty members attached to themselves is reflected on a variety of issues. On college campuses across America most professors and instructors are, strongly or somewhat, in favor of abortion rights (84 percent); believe homosexuality is acceptable (67 percent); and want more environmental protection "even if it raises prices or costs jobs" (88 percent). Furthermore, 65 percent want the government to ensure full employment, a stance to the left of the Democratic Party.
The most liberal faculties are those devoted to the humanities (81 percent) and social sciences (75 percent), according to the study. But liberals outnumbered conservatives even among engineering faculty (51 percent to 19 percent) and business faculty (49 percent to 39 percent).
The most left-leaning departments are English literature, philosophy, political science and religious studies, where at least 80 percent of the faculty say they are liberal and no more than 5 percent call themselves conservative.
If conservatives just saw what happened across America with Barack Obama becoming President and we have just witnessed 1 out of 3 young people voting for Obama where MOST come from the colleges and universities we have a serious problem. The same way the GOP has ignored minorities for years now we have ignored the realm of academia. Now it is coming back to haunt us with the advent of the first Black President. A warning to my colleagues in the GOP. If we do not reach out to the youth, Blacks, poor people, Hispanics and other minorities this party will be OVER.
When I am talking about educational reform I am not just talking about policy. I am also talking about conducting an ideological war on these colleges and universities. So this is not just some literature drop you do on campuses or engage in a debate between College Democrats and Republicans. This is about actually getting into the community colleges, the universities and actually TEACHING the coursework that you see fit. So you cannot think about this short-term. It must be long term and it will not be easy.
Young America Foundation put out a list called the Dirty Dozen back in 2006. These are just a few examples on how the liberal left is controlling the minds of our young people.

Hollins University's Pulp Fiction examines "a literary genre that critics once deemed 'trash' and moralists commonly found 'scandalous,' but that formed a crucial part in the burgeoning canon of queer literature."
There are some colleges in Michigan that are not liberal but lean conservative. Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan engages students who mostly possess fairly conservative and libertarian values. According to the Hillsdale student body, the largest organizations on campus are College Republicans and Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, followed closely by Praxis (an economics club) and Fairfield Society (a Christian organization).
Other schools in higher education that follow Hillsdale's trend are Albion College, Calvin College, Hope College and Kalamazoo College. The issue with these schools is that they are ALL PRIVATE. Most people cannot afford to send their children to these schools which already makes them exclusive. Which means we need to develop a strategy to control the public universities. One such measure is the public universities Board of Regents/Governors. However, we must proceed with caution because even though these Boards set the policies they oftentimes do not set the course work. Once again, you need a strategic grassroots approach to transforming the minds of the students in higher education.
Education is the MOST important and critical issue of 2010 in the State of Michigan. Poll after poll have shown that there is a greater need for educational quality in our community. If we sleep on this issue we will continue to lose big.
Education is a passport to freedom.
President Barack Obama’s First Primetime News Conference
President Barack Obama held his first primetime news conference on Monday, February 9, 2009 @ 8p.m. eastern time where he took 13 questions in an hour. Majority of the questions primarily dealt with the economy and stimulus package but a couple of questions dealt with international affairs. Nonetheless President Barack Obama offered a glimpse into how many of his press conferences will go in terms of he will give long winded answers. However the reality is that giving long winded answers turns many people off.
Let’s be real honest and frank for a minute, the American people’s average attention span is about 30 seconds to a minute. Therefore as President Obama avoided answering many questions and tip-toed around others with his long winded answers, it was clear that many Americans forgot what the question was and were more impressed with what Obama said regardless if he was answering the question or not. President Obama handled himself very well during the news conference but at the same time, he left me wondering how the President of the United States of America can not remember what he and his Vice President discussed just three days ago.
President Obama was asked a question about some comments Vice President Joe Biden said about there’s a 30% chance it might fail and Biden said that it was in regards to a conversation President Obama and Biden had late last week. Therefore the reporter asking the question wanted to know was it in regards to the stimulus package having a 30% chance of failing. However President Obama got in front of the American people and said I don’t remember any such conversation and then went on to talk and talk about literally nothing. For many of you who don’t believe what I am saying can read the transcript and I think you will see that President Obama could have simply said no such conversation took place but instead he said he don’t remember any such conversation or what the conversation was about.
It makes me wonder about how transparent and honest is President Obama being with us the American people. Is President Obama playing on our emotions and intellect because I can remember the conversations I had with people two weeks ago once someone brings up what the conversation was about? However President Obama said he doesn’t remember any such conversation thus leaving me to believe that the conversation took place and Joe Biden and he came to the conclusion that there’s a 70% chance the quote unquote stimulus package will work and a 30% chance it won’t.
Then President Obama stood in front the American people told us to judge him on the 4 million jobs he either creates or keeps in America. Alright President Obama you are either being naïve in terms of the amount of jobs lost last year or you are playing on the American people’s intellect once again. So let me help you out President Obama, nearly 5 million people lost their jobs last year and at the same time, more jobs are continuously being shipped overseas without any word of how you are going to prevent that from happening. Therefore let’s just say the quote unquote stimulus package creates 2 million new jobs and keeps 2 million jobs in America. That means you only created 2 million jobs and you saved another 2 million Americans from losing theirs. So if we are to judge you on that that than you have failed us President Obama because 3 million people are still out of work because you only give 2 million out of the 5 million unemployed Americans a job.
However I know President Obama and his administration will say while 3 million Americans are still out of work, it could still be 5 million if we didn’t save the 2 million jobs that we saved. My scenario is a generous one but the truth is that President Obama and his administration don’t know how many jobs they will create through this quote unquote stimulus package and they don’t know how many jobs if any they will save. That’s why by throwing out numbers makes no sense at this point in time. President Obama would be best suited by saying I hope to create at least 2 million jobs and at most 4 million or more. However President Obama and his advisors want to be stubborn and they want to continue to throw numbers out there that the American people cling to as if they are the gossip.
President Barack Obama first primetime news conference was a shaky one that left me with doubts about what President Obama really thinks of us the American people. President Obama should be commended for trying to answer questions but at the same time President Obama needs to stop being long winded. In fact President Obama would be more suited if he was more concise, precise and direct in answering questions rather than the approach he used on Monday.

The Failure of Pontiac Comes From Education by Akindele Akinyemi
The district originally was set up to accommodate 20,000 students but enrollment has dwindled to about 7,000.
Pontiac is one of my target cities for revitalization. As a former resident of the city I know first hand what needs to be done there.
Silver rights through urban conservatism can flourish in a failing city like Pontiac. The most critical element of silver rights is family. The second element is education. The third element is wealth building.
The most thing that concerns me the most is the merging of Pontiac Central with Pontiac Northern High School. This is not good at all. Pontiac Northern High School is one of the most violent schools in Michigan. Combining both student populations is not a great idea.
Remember when Redford High School closed here in Detroit and the students ended up at nearby Henry Ford High School? A student was shot to death. Not to mention the number of fights, truancy and other issues at the failing high school.
The City of Pontiac is 48% Black, 35% White and 13% Hispanic. Only 68.9% in the city possess a high school diploma while 10% have obtained a bachelors degree. 3.1% have a graduate degree (even though Oakland University is down the street) and over 14% of the city's population is unemployed.
The Pontiac School District has had it issues also. This is the same school district that has sued the Federal Government over NCLB over funding. This is also the same school district that had the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) showed up at Pontiac Northern High School for a weapons sweep. The same school district that asked for a state loan or an advance on special education funding to maintain cash flow. The same school district whose teachers are scared to show up for work on any given day because the violence is part of the culture.
When these schools close and the high schools combine there is going to be a spike in child poverty in the city of Pontiac.
The city will never come to light in the 21st century unless there are some drastic changes.
The first thing is to realize that you have a problem in the community and the leadership of the city. Political diversity is necessary to bring ideas to the table that will work. Pontiac's leadership is controlled by the Democratic Party. Maybe it's time to mix it with some Republicans or Libertarians.
In terms of the education Pontiac is a hot bed for charter schools. Charter schools can be a solution to the horrific dropout crisis afflicting both Pontiac and Michigan. A student drops out of an American high school every 26 seconds, according to America's Promise Alliance. In Texas, researchers at the Intercultural Development Research Association find that one out of every three school students fails to graduate.
While our state lawmakers pondering over at the staggering number of dropouts they should consider charter schools as a proven way to address the dropout crisis.
Charter schools serve a large percentage of poor and minority students, many of whom are behind their peers academically. Last year, 80 percent of Michigan students in charter schools were minorities, compared to 60 percent in traditional public schools.
To best meet the individual needs of their students, there are a range of charter school models. Some charter schools, to help their students catch up, offer a longer school day, Saturday classes, and mandatory summer school.
Another charter school model that could be implemented in places such as Pontiac is a math and science preparation emphasis, with multiple math and science Advanced Placement and dual credit offerings and involvement with math and science competitions. Expanding charter school models that offer a second chance to former dropouts, teenage parents, homeless youth, and juvenile offenders, providing these students with tremendous flexibility, one-on-one academic tutoring, and job skills training. One such school in Pontiac is the Lifeskills Center.
Demand for charter schools is growing. Yet, we have leadership here in Michigan refusing to lift the cap off charter schools. Lifting the cap off charter schools will help empower and encourage teachers to go into educational entrepreneurship by having the ability to run their own institution.
This is the time right now to open another (if not two) quality charter high schools in Pontiac. Parents are demanding safety and academics first and we have an obligation to deliver the goods and services.
Silver Rights through urban conservatism is necessary because it is our community duty to eradicate poverty with education. Thanks to the years of bad public policy here in Michigan we now have a child poverty crisis.
We are not helping our poor when we restrict our traditional public school establishment from the incentives to improve quality that would be generated by increased parental choice. We must think about what we are doing to our children.
Education is a SILVER RIGHT issue in 2010. It's not just a political issue but a HUMAN issue that must be address, solved and executed. Pontiac will not come back to life until the educational system is addressed properly and expansion of choice is accepted.

When I am elected as the first Nigerian-American Republican in the United States I want you to remember that I have never intended to harm or hurt you. I just simply love you.
My Perspective: Stimulating The Economy or Hurting It
The Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was one of the first politicians to say that our economy needs a targeted, temporary and timely stimulus package. Nonetheless, Speaker Pelosi did not follow her own three T’s as she voted to pass the House stimulus package that is neither targeted nor temporary. In fact the House stimulus package was timely only in the sense that it was passed so fast in the House barely any debate was taken up besides on the day that the House actually voted for the stimulus package that was full of Democratic ideas and barely any Republican ideas. That’s why it is particularly hard for any of our politicians to sell us the American people on the idea that the stimulus package they are proposing will work.
In fact President Barack Obama and his ability to articulate a message well has had difficulty trying to convey why this stimulus package is the best package for the American people. Therefore it amazes me how many Obama supporters are either silent or are for the stimulus package that Obama and the Democrats are proposing. In fact President Obama diehard supporters are criticizing even some Democratic politicians who are arguing against the current stimulus package as is by calling them hypocrites. It is clear that some Americans have some common sense to know that the current stimulus package being proposed needs some major changes according to a couple of polls taken this week.
Thus I have to ask again is the proposed stimulus package aimed at stimulating our economy or is it aimed at stimulating the mindsets of the American people. United States Senator Max Baucus from Montana stood on the Senate floor and said that he is for spending more than less because of the psychological factor involved. Paraphrasing what Senator Baucus said, “Senator Baucus believes that by spending more and not being timid portrays to the American people and investors that all is going to be well but we the federal government just want to speed up the recovery process of our economy.” Thus it is clear to me that Senator Baucus and many of his colleagues perhaps think the American people are stupid. Our federal government honestly thinks that they can spend themselves out of this problem rather than dealing with it in an intelligent matter. In fact our politicians in D.C. think they can apply the same old tactics to this problem as they have done to previous economic problems in the past.
What our politicians in D.C. don’t know is that we are facing something that neither they nor we understand? This economic recession we are facing today is nothing like anything we have ever seen. Therefore our government officials want to do something to show that they are trying to fix the economy but at the same time many of our government officials and even some economists know that our economy will be alright by end of the year. However this is not something that many of our political officials and economists go on television saying because they would be ridiculed by the powers that be. So what you hear on the television screen is that something needs to be done and while many of them don’t know what, they feel that something has to be done in order to improve the economy.
What is mind bothering to me as well as to others who believe that economy will come back around by the end of the year is that why do so many people believe something needs to be done but don’t know what. In fact why do many of those who believe something needs to be done don’t offer any solutions as to what can help the economy right now. However those same people who don’t offer any solutions want this quote unquote economic stimulus package to pass without any real discussion, compromises and concessions taking place. The reason why those diehard Obama supporters and others who want President Obama’s and the Democrats proposal of the stimulus package without any changes is because they believe in President Obama and anything that the Democrats offer due to the fact that they have seen what former President Bush and the Republicans have did for the last 8 years.
However what many of them don’t understand is that while we can’t afford to do nothing, we can’t afford to simply do anything. In fact we need to do something that is targeted, temporary and timely as well as something that will not cause more harm than good. We the American people don’t need a psychological stimulus as Senator Baucus and others think but our economy needs a stimulus package. Senator Baucus and those who think like him need to realize that our economy needs help not the psychological psyche of us the American people. Our psyche needs to see actual results and not just more money being spent on failing projects that cost us the taxpayers in the long run.
So Larry Summers words should be the words that President Barack Obama, Democrats, Republicans and Independents look and reference as they attempt to fix the economy. In fact, it should be the words that they live by as they craft legislation that isn’t just spending but is actually stimulus. If we poorly provide fiscal stimulus now than it can cause even worst side effects than the issue we are trying to cure right now. That’s why this stimulus package is of great importance and we cannot pass it too swiftly without making sure that it will do the job that we need it do which is stimulate the economy not now but right now.
Therefore as our politicians in D.C. and President Obama & his administration work out the details of the stimulus package, we need to make sure that they aren’t trying to stimulate our psyche but they are trying to stimulate the economy. We need to stimulate the economy not hurt it. That needs to be the mission and the objective of any stimulus package that is to be passed on Capitol Hill.
My Perspective: FAMILY
Yes absentee fathers are a major reason why the family structure is broken down today. In fact it can be said it is the ultimate reason why, which is rightly so. However simply putting fathers back in homes will not help the family structure but it will be a start. The family structure today needs help in terms of their socio-economic conditions that have left many of these families in dire straits that even with fathers coming back to the home will not help. Therefore we as Americans need to look to figure out an agenda that will help improve the family structure so that it gives families a cushion from poverty.
Many families are not looking for hand outs but they are looking for assistance to help them get on their feet. That’s why America needs to focus on its American families. It is the American family that needs to be strengthened so that the future of America succeeds. If we continue to ignore the American family than it will pave the way for even a worst society than the one we see today. Think about it, marriage rates are on a steady decline in America, divorce rates are higher than ever and single parent homes are at an all time high and are continuing to climb.
With those types of things taking place, it is clear that the American family as we know it needs help. It takes a whole village to raise a child and us as Americans need to realize that our village has been broken so now like never before time is truly of the essence. We can’t continue to ignore the American family and we as a people can’t continue to think that we are not responsible for raising anyone else’s children. However if you have a sister and your sister needs help, do you not help her? If you have an uncle who needs assistance do you not try to assist him? If you have a best friend who is hungry, do you not feed him or her? Therefore when you think about it, we are not simply taking the responsibility to raise someone else’s children but we are perhaps helping to raise the children who are our grandchildren, our nieces, our nephews and our God-children.
The American family needs strengthening and we are the ones who can help these families. We are the ones who can stop this decline in the family structure. Where mothers and fathers fail, we as communities should succeed. Where mothers and fathers can’t provide, we as communities should provide it. Where mothers and fathers become voiceless, we as communities should be heard. We can’t continue to allow our families to be ignored. Our families need us more now than ever.
The American family is not asking for hand outs but it is asking for help in order to help them get back to America’s fundamental principles. If the American families continue down the path that it is going than our economy will continue to suffer, our educational structure will continue to be hindered and the future generations of Americans will be damaged for generations to come. The American family today needs our help and we the people of this great nation must be willing to serve our duty as a nation and make sure that future generations of American families are saved in order to see brighter days and a brighter future.
SAVE OUR FAMILIES!
If not you than who!
FAMILY is the backbone to who we are as a people!
FAMILY shapes character and builds values as well as principles!
SAVE THE FAMILY!
My Perspective: America can learn something from the state of Maine
However when it comes to politics, it is tough for many women to break the glass ceiling of equality. Women were the last one’s to get their right to vote in America and last year during the Presidential primaries it was the first time that a woman won a primary or a caucus during either major parties Presidential race. In fact the Democratic Party saw Hillary Clinton get the most delegates by a woman as well as the most delegates by a runner up in Democratic Presidential Primary history. Plus last year, the Republican Party nominated its first woman for Vice President in Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Nonetheless as we look at the state of Maine it is clear that the voters in the state of Maine get the whole notion of women equality and they have bought into the feminist movement quicker than the rest of America. The state of Maine is the only state in America with two women representing them in the United States Senate.
American can learn something from the state of Maine. During last year’s election season, I saw that racism and sexism still exist in America despite how many times many of us try to down play. However it is clear that sexism and bigotry are greater than many of us would like to believe. This was clearly shown by how the media tried to demonize the likes of Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin and Michelle Obama. They questioned those three women in ways that they have never questioned men and their treatment of those three women was up fair to women everywhere.
However in the state of Maine, I see hope for the feminist movement. I see inspiration for many women all across America because it is from the most northern state in America that we all can learn something. We can learn that America is not as divisive as many of us would want us to be. The state of Maine shows that this might be a man’s a world when it comes to politics but women are slowly but surely bridging the gap. Senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe are more than just moderate Republican Senators but they are deal brokers. Their socially liberal views and fiscal conservative ideas are what make them attractable to President Barack Obama and many Democrats in terms of luring them to vote on many issues that the President is advocating for.
Senators Collins and Snowe are deal makers as they have made history in America’s politics while at the same time being in their prime. Both women are no older than 60 and they still has a lot of political capitol in D.C. which has been shown throughout the negotiations of the economic stimulus package being discussed in the Senate. However the state of Maine is an example of what can happen when men and women work together to fight against some of the stereotypes that plague our nation. The stereotypes and bigotry comments that reared its ugly head during the 2008 Presidential race that so many women from all walks of life should have been angry about.
America can learn a lot from the residents of the state of Maine because it is clear that Senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe didn’t just get elected on looks alone but the residents of the state accepted their ideas over others. Senators Collins and Snowe proved their worth to the voters and the voters of Maine didn’t look at their gender as a crutch or a plus but they simply looked at the two women’s ideas, policies and beliefs in deciding to elect them. Many residents of other states can learn a lot from the residents of Maine. It is from the state of Maine that we can learn to vote on the quality of one’s policies, beliefs and values and not on the basis of their skin, ethnicity, religion or gender. The state of Maine has proven that gender has no bearing in how its residents vote for a candidate so that is clearly a wakeup call to the rest of America.
Maine is a state that should be commended and the rest of America can definitely learn something from the state. Maine has broken down the gender barrier even further and as long as we as Americans work together time and time again than eventually we will be electing our first female President in America’s history some time very soon. America has come far in its history but we have farther to go. Nonetheless Maine is the beckon of hope and opportunity for the feminist movement because no state in America’s history has ever elected two women from the same to be its United States Senators at the same time. This is truly something that isn’t talked about much but needs to be.
So for those who are looking for a good story to tell your daughters and granddaughters, just look to the state of Maine for hope and inspiration? No matter if you are a Republican or Democrat, the state of Maine and it having two women U.S. Senators in Senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe is something for all Americans to be proud of. The fight for women equality has been an enduring fight but it is one that has seen many barriers broken and many first occur. Yet the first of having two U.S. Senators from one state is one barrier that many of us has ignored or hasn’t gotten a lot of media attention as it should get.
Today I salute Senators Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe as well as the residents of Maine for showing the rest of America that women equality is something all of us as Americans must fight to make happen as well as uphold it in the “Land of Equality.”
My Perspective: Unionizing America
The EFCA was being viewed to as critical to America’s future economic viability. Supporters of the EFCA are saying that our nation’s workers are struggling to make ends meet, and our middle class are disappearing. At the same time, the best opportunity for working people have to get ahead economically is by uniting to bargain with employers for better wages and benefits. The EFCA improves the current system for forming unions and bargaining which is currently broken.
EFCA supporters believe that every day corporations deny workers the freedom to decide for themselves. Proponents of EFCA say that corporations routinely intimidate, harass, coerce and even fire workers trying to form unions to bargain for economic well-being. Supporters also believes that those who oppose EFCA consists of those most responsible for the current economic meltdown, namely conservative politicians and their corporate benefactors—for instance, low-wage, anti-worker monoliths like Wal-Mart, which is obsessed with keeping workplaces union-free.
However those who argue against EFCA say that those who support the Employee Free Choice Act only want it because it makes it easier for workers to unionize. Secondly those who support EFCA are mainly large unions like the Service Employee International Union (SEIU) who marched on capitol hill and told Democrats to keep their promise or else. In fact SEIU helped many Democrats get elected from 2006-2008 and where the biggest contributors to the Obama campaign as well as Democratic campaigns all across America. SEIU wants the EFCA bill because many of their workers took leaves of absences from their jobs in order to work for the Obama campaign and to get Democrats elected nationwide.
In fact SEIU and those who support EFCA want to remove secret ballots and that is something that business groups are worried about. Those who oppose EFCA argue why do supports of EFCA who want it easier to unionize want to take away one of the most secret pieces to a democracy which is secret ballots. In fact the Employee Free Choice Act would make many unionized states like Michigan less attractive for corporations looking to locate operations elsewhere. In a time of an economic recession, it is clear that states in the south that are not unionized states are striving better than states of north and in the west. Unionized states will not be better off if the current EFCA bill passes that strips private voting away.
Now at the same time there are supports of EFCA that say that the change to unions will make voting fairer for many union workers. The EFCA would require a card check authorization system of voting which is the only real way to eliminate abuses on both sides of the labor organization discussion, as the time needed to decide this issue at each workplace would drop dramatically, says one union worker. Some union workers argue that this card check authorization would stop corporations from spending large amounts of time and money to hammer employees, and union organizers, with threats of dismissal and inundate them with all forms of antiunion propaganda. To be fair, the card-check system would also eliminate the heavy-handed approach of some union organizers.
In this economic climate, it is imperative that the prosperity of the forgotten middle class be considered again, not only in this instance, but in all matters in the foreseeable future. However the Employment Free Choice Act seems like a good act on the surface but the reality is that it empowers many unions and would increase union membership nationwide. Since 1983, the rate of union membership has declined from a peaking 20.1% to nearly 14%. Also the EFCA bill would be the most ridicule law in union history. If the law passes, it would literally force many workers to want to join unions even if they don’t want to. Think about the average union due is 1%-1.5% of a workers base pay. So by unionizing America, it would not only strengthen union membership but the pockets of unions to argue with corporations on behalf of workers thus creating many quote unquote worker strikes and lock outs many times.
When unions are formed, they can cause more harm than good to many companies and cities because of the amount of power many unions demand as well as concessions unions get for their workers. Unions can be good but lately unions have hurt many cities and have caused more harm than good for many workers. In fact from talking to many union workers, they explain to me that the benefits of a union is protection from simply being fired and the legal battles in the forms of grievances that unions back their members with. Therefore the EFCA might be an attempt to unionize America but at the same time, it shouldn’t be something that forces companies to accept unions. Unions might be good at times but for some corporations and small businesses unionize would destroy many thus forcing them to go out of business during a time of a recession.
The only place in America that doesn’t allow unions is our nation’s capitol Washington, D.C. The reason why unions are not allowed in D.C. is because of the staff of legislators and government offices unionized than it would create a blockage of work when it comes to negotiations about salaries and other benefits for employees. Can you imagine a work stoppage on Capitol Hill? That’s why unions are not allowed in our nation’s capitol and why many politicians including some Democrats fear the EFCA bill because it would probably create more problems than needed. The Employee Free Choice Act needs to researched and looked into further. The Democrats should not be pressured into passing the Employee Free Choice Act no matter who helped many of them get elected.
I hope everyone pays attention to this law and doesn’t allow it to go through as written. If the taking out of secret ballots is kept in the Employee Free Choice Act is allowed that it would do more harm than good in my opinion. Nonetheless the EFCA has some merit but not as it is written.
First Lady’s Meet and Greets

At the same time the First Lady was at the Education Department to make sure that the department understands that their work is not done and America’s children need their help now more than ever during this time of an economic recession. Also First Lady Obama went to the Department of Education first because she wanted to advocate that education will be a key role in what she partakes in as the new Mother-In-Chief and First Lady. Michelle Obama set the tone for her own First Lady agenda which is for education to be a corner stone to some of the things she advocates for and will do to uplift the spirits of families all across America. Therefore the First Lady’s second department visit was to the Department of Housing & Urban Development.
While at that department she spoke about how this department has kept many families in their homes and how the HUD department has been a key cornerstone to rebuilding urban cities in America. The First Lady is rolling out her agenda by showcasing that she will play a major role in education and urban development. Those are two areas by which she is most familiar with from her days of growing up in Chicago and that will be critical to how she deals with family issues for the American people. Michelle Obama will make sure that the housing issues in America stays an issue that her husband’s administration will address but at the same time she will make sure that they also deal with the development of urban American which is badly in need of assistance.
Michelle knows firsthand how having a good education can benefit someone coming from a poor or working class community because that’s exactly where she came from. So Michelle also knows that in many urban communities, the need for development and growth is critical to stimulating urban cities so that the residents of the cities can take full advantage of what its city has to offer. Therefore Michelle Obama’s agenda as a First Lady will be Families but she will make sure that education stays a priority that is near and dear to heart and that she continues to make sure HUD is doing its job to make life for urban families comfortable and suitable.
Michelle will not forget where she came from and that’s why her focus will play a key role in shaping her husband’s administration agenda. As the First Lady, Michelle will make sure that education in America undergoes major reconstruction but at the same time, she will make sure it undergoes the necessary changes that the department needs to make in order to fix the educational woes that are plaguing America’s children. While First Lady Obama has vowed that she is not a senior advisor to her husband, you can sure bet that she has her husband’s ear as much as the next person. So if it is something she sees out of order or feel needs to be taken care of, she will address directly to her husband President Barack Obama and trust me, Barack will not only look into it but will take action to fix it.
First Lady Obama meet and greets are helping to stimulate her own agenda as well as bridge a gap between her husband and the rest of D.C. First Lady Obama will be a key figure to the success of her husband’s administration but most of all she will be a fighter for the millions of families in American. First Lady Obama’s agenda will spearhead growth and prosperity for many working families if she is able to really do what many of us think she can do. Michelle’s meet and greets are critical to her First Lady success but at the same time, it is critical to see what other departments she visits because that will signal what other areas she will work on as First Lady on behalf of American families.
S-CHIP is a Step in the Right Direction for Health
Today marked the beginning of many Americans children to receive health insurance for their kids. The State Children’s Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP) Bill was signed into law by President Barack Obama today, February 4, 2009 but it was vetoed by former President George W. Bush because it raised the tobacco tax and the tobacco tax will be used to pay for S-CHIP to a degree. While many of you who smoke or chew tobacco might see your tobacco products go up in prices due to taxes. This new law will hopefully encourage less people to smoke during a time of economic recession when tobacco products should be seen as a want and luxury rather than a need for many people who smoke or chew tobacco.
S-CHIP is a step in the right direction for health because it expands to not only poor children but middle class children as well who are soon to be poor as the economy gets worse. The signing of S-CHIP clearly is a symbol that President Obama and Congress want to do some things to improve the health care industry in America. S-CHIP will cover many children who desperately need affordable health care because many of them don’t have it. However S-CHIP is not the only thing needed to make the health care industry work for the American people but it is a step in the right direction because many children across America will finally be able to see a doctor in order to prevent many diseases and illness that plague our children.
While S-CHIP was passed at the expense of the tobacco industry, it is clear that many people who badly need health insurance are those who smoke and chew tobacco or those who have been around second hand smoke. That’s why S-CHIP will help many children get healthier perhaps because it will limit their exposure to second hand smoke that is usually contracted by being around their parents, family friends and other relatives who smoke. It is the hope that many Americans will stop smoking or at least decrease in how many cigarettes they smoke a day due to the high taxes on tobacco that the S-CHIP bill is implementing.
It is clear that some will consider the S-CHIP bill socialism but the reality is that many Americans can’t afford health care not only for themselves but for their children. Therefore S-CHIP provides an opportunity for those who are underprivileged and less fortunate to have an opportunity to give their children health care so that their children can live for the future. For those of you who are against S-CHIP, your arguments are understandable but you can’t deny the fact that our youth deserve to live to see the future. That’s exactly what S-CHIP allows many children to do.
Since S-CHIP was first implemented back in the 1990s, it has helped millions and millions of children who otherwise would probably not be alive today without the passage of this bill. That’s why S-CHIP is a great opportunity for many of America’s children who are in need of help and otherwise would not have gotten it without help of state health insurance for children. S-CHIP might be hindering those of us who don’t have children or our children are grown because we are paying for other’s people’s children to have health insurance. However there’s an old African Proverb that says, “It takes a village to raise a children.” Therefore we are the village and we must all chip in to a degree to raise someone else’s children.
As much as many of us want to believe we are the only ones who raised our children, the reality is that someone helped you along the way. A teacher, a coach, neighbor or another relative has helped you raise your child in some way. While they probably have not done as much as you, that doesn’t mean they didn’t play a role in raising your child. So by you paying your taxes or buying tobacco products to make sure that children who otherwise won’t be able to get health insurance gets it, isn’t asking a whole lot of you. It is a step in the right direction of helping the health care industry get back on the side of the people.
So even if you are against this bill, it is understandable but when you think about what your taxes go toward already than you shouldn’t be as angry to be paying taxes for someone else child to get health care. In fact the S-CHIP bill will be the template for how universal health care happens in America and this is only the beginning to reforming the health care industry so that we the people live healthier lives. S-CHIP is a bold step in the right direction for not only the children of America but for the future of America. Just imagine how many children’s lives we are saving with S-CHIP and how many futures we are sowing.
S-CHIP might not be perfect but it is definitely a step in the right direction in terms of reforming health care. The only problem that I see that could arise is that S-CHIP could be too much for many states to cover and it could lead to many illegal immigrants children benefiting as well. However those are things that can easily be fixed but for now we have to appreciate what S-CHIP has done and what it will continue to do. In a time of economic recession many people are not worrying about how to insure their children but they are worrying about how to keep a roof over their head, clothes on the back, and food on the table. That’s why S-CHIP is a relief for many families and the parents of the children who will benefit from the State Children’s Health Insurance Program because it gives their children health insurance that otherwise couldn’t be made possible.
S-CHIP is a major step in the right direction for health in America and that is something that even those who dislike the bill must at least appreciate as well as respect.
My Perspective: Ignorance is Bliss
It’s as if we have decided to be free to be ignorant rather than smart. Our smart have decided to join in the popularity of ignorance so they play down their own intelligence by demonizing those of us who remain intelligent people. People want to be respected and treated equally however they indulge in ignorance and play into it. When did ignorance become so popular and acceptable?
Ignorance has become a plague and almost a major national epidemic because it is clear that we don’t want to learn. We don’t want to be open minded. Ignorance is bliss now like never before and many of us rejoice in being ignorant. Why has ignorance become so glamorous? Ignorance is all around us from television to newspaper to the internet. We rejoice in it, we laugh at and we take it so serious that we are willing to fight for it. Ignorance has taken over our homes, our schools, our jobs, our communities, our hometowns, our states and even our national government.
Ignorance has gotten to a point that if you don’t think like ignorant people they gang up on you in order to force you to reply to all their ignorant commits. Ignorance has gotten to a point where freedom of expression needs to be questioned especially when those who express freedom of expression are too ignorant to make logical, sensible comments. Ignorance is truly getting too out of control that many of us who are philosophers and thinkers are being outnumbered sometimes 5 to 1 or 10 to 1 in most cases.
Ignorance is bliss people and we need to make sure that this wide spread epidemic doesn’t get too far ahead of us that we can’t change it. Ignorance is simply inexcusable and those who partake in it simply fear not being accepted. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge and unawareness of information and what’s happening around you. Those who want to be ignorant engage in it because they don’t like to accept the hardships of reality so by not accepting reality, they don’t have to accept responsibility for anything. Ignorance is bliss to so many people right now and it is hard for many of us to understand why.
Ignorance is not paradise and it is not a place where dreams can happen but ignorance stifles dreams. Ignorance doesn’t allow you to think and when you indulge in ignorance you are capping your own chance at being able to learn. We can’t allow ignorance to become the new wave of education. Even those who are educated that have been swallowed up by ignorance must understand that you are doing a disservice to so many great thinkers that this great nation has created. Thinkers like W.E.B. DuBois, James Madison, Malcolm X, Thomas Jefferson, Booker T. Washington, and Benjamin Franklin are rolling over in their graves because of all of this ignorance.
Ignorance has become a scapegoat for real thought. Ignorance has become a scapegoat for real knowledge and real information. People run to ignorance because they fear obtaining knowledge. People accept ignorance because they are scared to obtain knowledge and information that will help them grow as a person. People are quick to be ignorant because they have self-esteem issues that they need to overcome. Ignorance covers up insecurities that many people would rather shield by being ignorant than by being intelligent.
Why does ignorance control the lives of so many people right now can’t be explained? However it is not too late to overcome this ignorant epidemic that has engulfed so many people. We just need to make sure that ignorance doesn’t plague us as a nation forever. Ignorance cannot lead our lives as much as it has right now. That’s why those of us who won’t give in to ignorance no matter how popular and glamorous it becomes, must stand on our principles and demand intellect even from the most uneducated of us.
We can’t allow ignorance to reign supreme forever because we are a nation built on intelligence and philosophy. That’s why we must not give in to the demands of ignorance no matter how many times ignorance knocks at our door. We are better than ignorance and those who indulge in ignorance simply fear being more than what they can be. We cannot allow ignorance in our lives and those that participate in ignorance want acceptance. Ignorance is not bliss.
Why has ignorance become what it has today? Ignorance needs to be stomped out, rooted out, weeded out and conquered by any means necessary. People have adopted ignorance in their lives because they are afraid of rejection and are afraid to accept their flaws and all. Ignorance is not the new thing but it’s the dumbest thing to ever happen in America in a very long time. Stand up people and realize that ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is a disease that is plaguing too many lives and it is suppressing the future of too many Americans.
When will people realize that ignorance doesn’t get you anywhere and by selling your intelligence short only caps your future? Ignorance is curable and those who want a cure can get it ASAP. Ignorance is bliss to some but to those of us who believe that ignorance is ridiculous and absurd than this is our moment to finally rid many Americans from adopting this new wave of ignorance that has emerged. Ignorance is never acceptable under any circumstances and anyone who thinks ignorance is good only want those who don’t have common sense to remain uninformed about what is really happening around them.
Ignorance has just gotten out of control and it is time to fight against this ignorance is bliss epidemic that has emerged like never before in America’s history. Our job might be hard to defeat ignorance but it is a task that those who have fought it off so far accept with a deep passion and dignity that we will honor and cherish forever. We must defeat ignorance wherever it rears its ugly head because we accept destroying ignorance with a deep interest in making America better for all those involved in it. Intelligence must reign supreme always and forever “By Any Means Necessary” for as long as we are breathing we must make sure this happens.
IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS!
My Perspective: FIGHT THE POWER
Our causes such as the world-wide epidemic of HIV/AIDS is continuing to grow while new outbreaks emerge, new medicines are being delayed from being created. We must fight the powers at be in order to get the necessary funds to do more research and test runs on new medicines that could eventually lead to a cure to HIV and AIDS forever. We must fight the powers at be who want to suppress our causes such as equality and justice for all. We must fight the power if we are ever going to overcome racism, sexism and the other –isms that oppress many of us. We must fight the powers at be if we are going to improve our educational systems.
We can’t allow the powers at be to get away with the same old ideas to the same problems that plague us year after year. We got to fight for what we want and we must fight to get what we need. Fight the Power, people! We can’t allow the powers at be to get away without helping the causes of poverty, health care, ethnic and economic equality. We can’t allow the powers at be to ignore the many causes that have destroyed our families, our neighborhoods and our world as we know.
We must fight the power in order to bring peace and not war. We must fight the power in order to restore stability to this world. We must fight the power in order to accept our differences as not reasons to dislike or hate one another but simply as differences but that doesn’t mean even within our differences we can’t agree on some things. We must fight the power in order to improve the world we live in. We must fight the power in order to lend a hand to those of us that are underprivileged and economically disadvantaged. We must fight the powers at be in order to gain the power that we the people have always controlled but have been brainwashed into believing we are powerless.
Our causes such as women equality is something we must all fight for. We must fight to make sure that a women’s worth in this world is equal to men no matter where they stay. We must fight the power in order to make sure that women are getting their fair share of life in this world. We must fight the powers that be because that is the only way we will be able to overcome the unjust laws that are oppressing us. Fight the power so that we all can achieve our dreams as we all obtain a piece of the dream that has kept us divided for far too long.
Fight the power people with not our hands and fists but with our words and our intellect. Fight the powers that be with our words and our actions. Fight the powers that be with not just hope but with actions. Fight the powers that be by being proactive instead of reactive. Fight the power, people because that is the only way we will be able to help those that are less fortunate than us.
Fight the power people because our best educated refuse to get their hands dirty to fight for the causes that plague so many people. Fight the power people because our best equipped refuse to help us get equipped with the skills and abilities they have so we have to uplift ourselves by training ourselves to fight the powers that be. Those of us who are equipped with the skills and knowledge to fight the powers that be, we must train those who are not. Fight he power people because we can’t allow those who are the best educated, best trained, best equipped and best suited to stop our mission of fighting the powers at be. We have got to fight the powers at be in a way that we have never fought them before.
We have to not fight them with only numbers but with our minds, our words and our actions. We must fight the powers by fighting against those who are afraid to speak up for what they believe in. We must fight the powers that be by hitting them with not only rhetoric but with constant rhetoric and actions. We must fight the powers that be by actively engaging them where they stay and live. We must fight the powers that be by getting inside their comfort zone and making them uncomfortable.
We must fight the powers that be by encouraging those who are afraid to step up and take a risk to take a risk for once in their life. We must fight for what we believe in or die trying. We must not be afraid of being violently harmed or jailed because our causes are worth fighting the system in order to bring equality and stability to those less fortunate and economically unequipped to deal with much of what they are facing. We must fight the power so that we make this world we live in a better place for all those who partake in. We must fight the power against racism, inequality, sexism, discrimination, hate crimes, and other injustices that hinder progress, peace and stability in this world we stay in. We must fight the power in order to eliminate poverty, illiteracy, HIV/AIDS, cancer, inequity, and any other just causes within this world that need fighting for.
We must fight the power people or die trying to accomplish the unthinkable and sometimes the inevitable. We must fight the power people because if we don’t who will. We must fight the power by saying the truth no matter whose feelings are hurt or offended. We must fight the power people because we need a better world than we inherited. We can’t allow a few cowards to stop the movement. We can’t allow a few gutless yellow bellies to stop the revolution. We must fight the power people. We must fight the powers that be and at be by any means necessary.
We must fight to uplift our society and we must fight to make a difference in society each and every day. We must fight to make each other stronger. We must fight to make each other angry not at each other but at the situations we have been placed in. We must fight to be hungry for change. We must fight to make each other hungry for a better life. We must fight the power people otherwise we are doomed. We must fight the powers that be no matter how hard or difficult it might be. We must fight the powers that be because they are the ones who are trying to hold us back from accomplishing our goal of a better world.
We must fight the stereotypes. We must fight the powers that indulge in negativity and name calling. We must fight the powers that get rich off war and prosper off the demise of others. We must fight the powers that rejoice in others misery. We must fight the powers that abuse our women and children while making our men look like boys without a mind for themselves. We must fight the powers that try to suppress our voices in order to deny the truth from being shared and told. We must fight the powers that continue to destroy the character of those who are trying to uncover the truth to the lies that have been feed to us time and time again.
We must fight the powers that try to write history so that it benefits a select group of people while suppressing the entire truth to the other groups of people. We must fight the powers that deny us the right to equality and justice. We must fight the powers that be who continue to deny us access to the doors of freedom that we all deserve. We must fight the powers that aren’t looking to give us what we need and don’t intend to ever give us what we want no matter if what we want is what we need. We must fight the powers that be who think we are not same. We must fight the power with awareness and we must not get careless, people.
We must fight the power and make sure everyone knows that our goal is to educate. We must fight the power with not just our words but our actions. We must fight the power by educating those of us who refuse to listen and we must make them listen regardless of how verbally abusive they might be. We must fight the power by taking down those of us who indulge in foolish insults and deny the truth when it is in front of their eyes. We must fight the power against even those that are considered idiots who don’t comprehend when they read and teach them how to read to comprehend so that they can be educated.
Fight the power people so that the masses don’t stay zombies. Fight the power so that future generations don’t inherit a world full of hatred and distain for one another. Fight the power by uplifting and encouraging others rather than prosecuting those who don’t think, dress and act like you. Fight the power by not name calling but by welcoming those who don’t think like you into your circle so that you can understand them. Fight the power with what we have learned from our past. Fight the power with wide spread sharing of knowledge and by being proactive rather than reactive.
Fight the power not now but right now. Fight the power right here, right now. The time to fight the power has never been greater and the time for you to accept your responsibility to be a part of the movement has never been greater. Fight the POWER! Fight the Powers at be! Fight the Powers that be! Fight them now! Fight them forever! Fight them until you die! Fight the Power and share in the Power by giving it to all those who have been denied Power for years!
FIGHT THE POWER!
My Perspective: FREE FROM THE MATRIX
I stand before you today, Free from the Matrix! Free from the shackles of brainwashing that has plagued us as a people for years. I’m free from the Matrix that has kept us in bondage for decades. Free from the violence that has kept us down for centuries. Free from the ideologies that many of us have went to war for and free to walk to the beat of my own drum. I am free to be who I am and I am free to do what I want as I want.
I’m free from the Matrix. I’m free from believing that I only have two choices when it comes to politics. I’m not a Democrat or a Republican. I’m not a Liberal or a Conservative. I’m a Thinker. I’m an Independent. I’m free from the Matrix that tells us that we have two choices when it comes to politics. I’m free from the Matrix that tells us that you have to believe this way or that way as if it is nothing in between or something else out there. I’m free from the Matrix that has taken the shackles off of our feet for many of us and has put on our minds.
I’m free from the Matrix. I might not have a degree to be an educator but I’m free from the Matrix that degrees tell you who you are and what you are not. I’m free from the Matrix that puts reality shows before us on television in order to brainwash our people into doing nothing but paying attention to the buffoonery on TV. I’m free from the Matrix that makes you think one sided or with a closed mind. I’m free to be who I am and to know what I know.
I’m free from the Matrix that wants us to believe that life is fair and equal while all the while life is tough and equality is still being fought for. I’m free from the Matrix that makes our women call themselves bitches and each other bitches as if it is okay but when men call them that, men are wrong. I’m free from the Matrix that makes African Americans think it is okay to call each other niggas as if it is a term of endearment. I’m free from believing that sagging is cool and I’m free to know that if you spell niggas backwards it spells saggin’. I’m from the Matrix.
I’m free from the Matrix that would rather see us divided than united. I’m from the Matrix that would rather see us illiterate than literate. I’m free from the Matrix that would rather see us argue about who’s right and who’s wrong rather than to agree to disagree. I’m free from the Matrix that shows us statistics that they want us to see in order to control our minds. I’m free from the Matrix that doesn’t give me the power to control my own dynasty. I’m free from the Matrix that makes you believe that being rich and wealthy is having lots of money.
I’m free from the Matrix that tells us that being a minority means being inferior. The Matrix that creates the haves and have not’s. The same Matrix that puts the truth in books because they don’t believe we will read it. I’m free from the Matrix that forces us to criticize people for having a different opinion. I’m free to be open-minded. I’m free to have an open dialogue with people who don’t think like me. I’m free to be who I am and to be comfortable without worrying how others view me.
I’m free from the Matrix that wants us to call each other names in order take away our self-esteem and any pride we may have. I’m free to encourage others. I’m free to inspire those who agree and disagree with me. I’m free to motivate my friends as well as those I don’t know. I’m free from the Matrix that entraps us to believe that this is a men’s world when women make up majority of the world. I’m free from the Matrix that would rather see us in bonds and chains than to being achieving feats that only a few of us are supposed to accomplish. I’m free to be my own man and to think on my own.
I’m free from the Matrix that stifles some of the greatest minds out there. I’m free to think differently. I’m free to be comfortable in my own skin. I’m free to read and comprehend. I’m free to work with whoever I want when I want. I’m free to know that I always have choices even when the Matrix would want us to think our choices are limited. I’m free to work with others who are probably smarter than me but I’m not afraid of their intelligence. I’m free to respect other people’s opinions without trying to destroy their self-esteem.
I’m free from the Matrix that wants you to think like zombies. I’m free to write how I feel and I’m free to say what I want regardless of how many of you would rather for me to bite my tongue so that Matrix can be happy. I’m free to speak the truth and to tell you the truth not only when you need to hear it but when it needs to be said. I’m free from the Matrix that wants us to listen to music that talks about crap. I’m free from the Matrix that wants us as people to dance than to talk about real issues.
Are you free from the Matrix? Why are you afraid to challenge the Matrix? Why are you confined in your one track mind? Why do you try to destroy others in order to improve your own status in the Matrix? Why are you trapped in the Matrix? Are you afraid to step into the light and out the Matrix that has quote unquote shielded from the hardships of reality?
Be free from the Matrix that makes you believe you are either a Republican or Democrat. Be free from the Matrix that makes you to believe that you are rich or wealthy when you have tons of money. Be free from the Matrix that has created the haves and have not’s. Be free from the Matrix that has divided us as a people. Be free from the Matrix that has done more damage than good to our families, our schools and our communities. Be free from the Matrix that has demonized certain ethnic groups in order to uplift a select few. Be free from the Matrix that has mis-educated your children and mis-used you as well as misguided many of us. Be free from the Matrix in order to be stand on your own beliefs, your own values, and your own principles.
Wake up people and realize that the Matrix is what is keeping us back. Be free to envision, be free to speak your mind, and be free to accept one’s differences. Be free to comprehend what one is saying or writing. Be free to learn on your own and not what people want you to learn. Be free to question all politicians regardless of their political affiliation. Be free to question anything that you want to know more about. Be free to accept others religious beliefs and to learn from others religions. Be free to be yourself and be free to know who you truly are.
I’m free from the Matrix because I’m tired of what it is has done to us as a people. I’m free from the Matrix where –isms are running wild. I’m free from the Matrix that spends our money like it is their money. I’m free form the Matrix that doesn’t want me to work with you to improve our communities. I’m free from the Matrix and I want you to be free too. I’m free from the Matrix that wants us to criticize each other to the point where we passionately dislike or nearly hate each other. I’m free from the Matrix that doesn’t want new ideas. I’m free from the Matrix that has put the shackles on many of your brains to feed into statistics that they provide us with without telling us the methodology they used to gather the data. I’m free from the Matrix that wants you to speak about others experiences rather than your own experiences. I’m free to be who I am.
I’m free from the Matrix and I want you to be free with me. I’m free from the Matrix and I want you to be free to be who you are as well. I’m free from the Matrix that feeds us rhetoric after rhetoric that is filled with broken promises after broken promises. I’m free from the Matrix that wants us to be impatient rather than patient. I’m free from the Matrix that would rather see anarchy than a real well thought-out revolt lead by intelligent people.
Be free from the Matrix! Be Liberated! Be Inspired! Be Motivated! Be free from the Matrix not now but right now! Be free to stand on your own! Be free to think on your own! Be free from the Matrix right here, right now! Be free to take the shackles off your minds! Be free from the Matrix so that you can finally wake up and see for yourselves, how the Matrix has destroyed not us as a people while leaving many of us behind mentally, culturally, physically and spiritually! Be free from the Matrix that has divided and conquered us day after day, month by month, year after year, decade by decade, and century after century. Be Free from the Matrix today, not tomorrow but today! BE FREE!
FREE FROM THE MATRIX
Jay-Z - History
(Jay-Z - History)Jay-Z - History with Lyrics
LYRICS : [Chorus: Cee-lo]
Now that all the smoke is gone
(Lighter)
And the battle's finally won
(Gimme a lighter)
Victory (Lighters up) is finally ours
(Lighters up)
History, so long, so long
So long, so long
[Verse 1: Jay-Z]
In search of victory, she keeps eluding me
If only we could be together momentarily
We can make love and make history
Why won't you visit me? until she visit me
I'll be stuck with her sister, her name is defeat
She gives me agony, so much agony
She brings me so much pain, so much misery
Like missing your last shot and falling to your knees
As the crowd screams for the other team
I practice so hard for this moment, victory don't leave
I know what this means, I'm stuck in this routine
Whole new different day, same old thing
All I got is dreams, nobody else can see
Nobody else believes, nobody else but me
Where are you victory? I need you desperately
Not just for the moment, to make history
[Chorus: Cee-lo]
Now that all the smoke is gone
(Lighters)
And the battle's finally won
(Lighters)
Victory is finally ours
(Yeah)
History (yeah), so long, so long
So long, so long
[Verse 2: Jay-Z]
So now I'm flirting with death, hustling like a G
While victory wasn't watching took chances repeatedly
As a teenage boy before acne, before I got proactiv I couldn't face she
I just threw on my hoodie and headed to the street
That's where I met success, we'd live together shortly
Now success is like lust, she's good to the touch
She's good for the moment but she's never enough
Everybody's had her, she's nothing like V
But success is all I got unfortunately
But I'm burning down the block hoppin' in and out of V
But something tells me that there's much more to see
Before I get killed because I can't get robbed
So before me success and death ménage
I gotta get lost, I gotta find V
We gotta be together to make history
[Chorus: Cee-lo]
Now that all the smoke is gone
(Lighters. Up.)
And the battle's finally won
(Lighter. Up.)
Victory is finally ours
(Lighters. Up.)
History, so long, so long
So long, so long
[Verse 3: Jay-Z]
Now victory is mine, it tastes so sweet
She's my trophy wife, you're coming with me
We'll have a baby who stutters repeatedly
We'll name him history, he'll repeat after me
He's my legacy, son of my hard work
Future of my past, he'll explain who I be
Rank me amongst the greats, either 1, 2, or 3
If I ain't number one then I failed you victory
Ain't in it for the fame that dies within weeks
Ain't in it for the money, can't take it when you leave
I wanna be remembered long after you grieve
Long after I'm gone, long after I breathe
I leave all I am in the hands of history
That's my last will and testimony
This is much more than a song, it's a baby shower
I've been waiting for this hour, history you ours
[Chorus: Cee-lo (2x)]
Now that all the smoke is gone
And the battle's finally won
Victory is finally ours
History, so long, so long
So long, so long
Man in the Mirror--By Michael Jackson
I'm gonna make a change,
for once im my life
It's gonna feel real good,
gonna make a diference
Gonna make it right...
As I, turn up the collar on
my favorite winter coat
This wind is blowing my mind
I see the kids in the streets,
with not enought to eat
Who am I to be blind?
Pretending not to see their needs
A summer disregard,a broken bottle top
And a one man soul
They follow each other on the wind ya' know
'Cause they got nowhere to go
That's why I want you to know
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
(If you wanna make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
(Take a look at yourself, and then make a change)
(Na na na, na na na, na na, na nah)
I've been a victim of a selfish kind of love
It's time that I realize
That there are some with no home, not a nickel to loan
Could it be really me, pretending that they're not alone?
A willow deeply scarred, somebody's broken heart
And a washed-out dream
(Washed-out dream)
They follow the pattern of the wind ya' see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me
(Starting with me!)
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Ooh!)
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
(If you wanna make the world a better place)
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
(Take a look at yourself, and then make a change)
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Ooh!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Change his ways - ooh!)
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that..
(Take a look at yourself and then make that..)
CHANGE!
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Man in the mirror - Oh yeah!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Better change!)
No message could have been any clearer
(If you wanna make the world a better place)
Michael Jackson - Man in the mirror
A Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cook
It's been a long time coming but a change is surely going to come in America and the World! I am the Future of America and the World and that is the message that each of us must carry with us each and every day that we wake up on Earth! I am the Future! You are the Future! We are the Future of America and the World! That is way every election is important--primaries, special elections and general! So vote every year and hold our politicians accountable. Hold our political officials accountable by writing them, calling them and making sure they attend meetings that we the people have. "The Time for Change is not Now but Right Now!"
"EmPOWERment By Any Means Necessary" should be our anthem and should be our creed as we make the positive differences in America and the world that so many people beg for and hungry for year after year! A Change is Gonna Come, A Change is Gonna Come, that's what we must say as we say "God grants us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, Courge to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference" each morning before we go about the task of making a positive change in America and the world a reality.
Born In The U.S.A. - Bruce Springsteen
“When will people realize that we are Americans first and foremost, not Democrats or Liberals, not Republicans or Conservatives, not Independents or moderates. We are Americans. Stop putting a political party above America and stop putting any politican above America. America succeeds because of us the people holding our government responsible no matter the political party because the main two political parties are to blame for the condition America is in."—Hodari P.T. Brown
America with its flaws and all is a country I am proud to have been born in. America is not perfect but my love for it is perfect. That’s why all Americans must realize that we are all Americans. In fact we are Americans first and foremost. We are not Democrats or Republicans. We are Americans.
We are not Muslims, Christians or Jews. We are Americans. Too many times we recognize our differences with others rather than appreciating our similarities which are, we are Americans. We are Americans first and foremost, no matter if we were born here or moved here legally. We are all Americans, here in this country to make not only our lives better but the lives of other Americans better so future Americans can enjoy the rights and freedoms that make us all Americans.
We are all Americans. We are one party united under God. We are Americans and this is the only political party that matters. We are Americans and this is our country so let’s make sure that we make America better than how we found it so future Americans can live prosperous and joyous lives. We are Americans and must not ever forget that.
America will prosper as long we make sure we are doing our part to make it prosper and that means we can’t put any political party or politician above America. Long live America forever and long live America’s service to the world. Together, America and the world will prosper for future generations to enjoy America and the world we live in.
Lift Every Voice and Sing
This video of the ' Negro National Anthem' was originally screened at the historic African-American Church Inaugural Ball in Washington, DC on January 18th, 2009. Many of the esteemed individuals featured in this video in attendance and we presented with the ' Keepers of the Flame' award for the monumental contributions to social justice.
This version of the song was performed by the Grace Baptist Church Cathedral Choir, conducted by Derrick James. The video was produced and donated by Ascender Communications, LLC (www.ascender-c.com) at the request of The Balm In Gilead, Inc.
If I Was President--Wyclef Jean
If I was President that is the people's anthem. We all have ideas of what we can do as President and through this website, we will fulfill our deam as a people!
Somethings Gotta Give--Big Boi ft Mary J Blige
Somethings Gotta Give people and it begins today for all us to make sure that something is us. We the people are sick and tired of suffering. Where is our piece of the Dream that so many people dead for so that we all could see today. This is our time people to change America and the world so that the Next Generation has a better future than the past we inherited.
This is our call to service. This isn't about one political candidate or one political figure. This is about us as people coming together to finally leave up to our potential and achieving the great feats that those before us have achieved. This is our moment to lead our nation and our world to greater heights.
Somethings gotta give people and it starts with us the people making it happen. We have to improve our education system in America. We have to rid the world of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. We have to go to the streets and lift a hand to another in order to decrease poverty in this world. We have to take a stand today and make sure that the future of America and the world is brighter than it has ever been.
Somethings Gotta Give and that is why we must "Remember Each One, Reach One and Teach One so America's future and the World's future continues to prosper."
John Legend - "If You're Out There"
If you're out there than you need to get started in helping to change America and the world. The world and America won't change until you get involved in making the changes you want to see in this world. If you're out there, than you must know that tomorrow started now and today started yesterday so you are behind in helping to the change. If you are tired of hatred, racism, poverty, war, and violence than the time to change it is now. If you want universal health care, world peace, democracy for every nation, equal rights, and happiness for all than you must get involved now to help the save world.
You must believe in the change that you want to see and you must act on making that change a reality. If you're out there than say it aloud and show the rest of America and the world that you're out here to make a real positive change in the communities we stay in. If you're out there than get involved now. I'm calling every women and men to join me as we take back our country right here, right now. If you're out there than the future started yersterday and we are already late so we have lots of work to do but I know we can do it together as one.
YES WE CAN
Yes We Can accomplish anything that we set out to do! We don't need charismatic or inspirational leaders to believe in ourselves and to take responsiblity for our own faith, we just need each other. Yes We Can build a new America and a new world if each of us would take action now to make the changes that we want to see in the world. Yes We Can control government by holding our political officials accountable for their actions by calling them out when they don't pass legislation that supports the common good of all man and by voting in every election to ensure that we have people representing the people locally, state wide, nationally and in the world.
Yes We Can be great! Yes We Can be what we want to be! Yes We Can be glorious in not only America but the world! Yes We can put action behind our worlds and change the world starting right here, right now! Yes We Can as Republicans, Democrats and Independents become one as we freely think about our fellow men and women and make decisions that will be in the best interest of all people and not one single group.
Yes We Can be the change that we want to see in the world! Yes We Can show the world that the youth are ready to lead! Yes We Can put our egos, our social economic statuses, our religions, our educational statuses and our skin color to the side for the better good of the world! Yes We Can be Greater than we have ever been and help others be Greater than they have ever be!
YES WE CAN and YES WE WILL BE VICTORIOUS IN ALL THAT WE DO! YES WE CAN, no matter what others may say, we will be glorious! YES WE WILL and YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN!
YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN is what will be sung from every mountaintop, every riverbank, every household, every school yard, every factory, every sporting event, every college campus and even every place you can imagine in the world is where YES WE CAN, will be said and heard!
YES WE CAN!
Keep On Pushing - Curtis Mayfield & the Impressions
Wake Up People! No matter who is elected to any public office, we have to “Keep On Pushing” as a people to make sure they don’t leave us in a worst state than what they inherited. We as a people have to “Keep On Pushing” to make a difference in the lives of others. We have to have an “EmPOWERment By Any Means Necessary” attitude as we continue to push our agenda that we the people deserve and want better. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to bring about change in a positive way that will benefit all Americans no matter their age, their religion or skin color. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to bring about change that will improve our education system, improve our military, improve our national security, improve our healthcare system and improve our economy. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to bring about change that will leave America’s future in a better than how we found it and that will leave the world’s future in a better state than we imagined we could live it. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to make life better for our neighborhoods, our families and even our quote on quote enemies. We have to “Keep On Pushing” to inspire, to uplift and to guide those who need help spiritually, physically and mentally. We have to “Keep On Pushing ” so that our lives, our future generation’s lives and the lives of those who came before us does not die in vein.

A War For Your Soul
A War For Your Soul-regular version from Erisai Films on Vimeo.
The moment has come for us as a nation of people to finally wake up and realize that our destiny and fate in society has rests on our shoulders. We cannot allow the forces of evil and darkness to drain us out. We have to continue to overcome all odds in order to make the future of our nation better and the future of future generations of Americans better. We have to continue to pray to our Lord and we have to continue to uplift each other in prayer as well as take action against those things that are trying to destroy us. We have to stand up once and for all and be the future that we want to be. Now is our time and we shall do together by any means necessary.
This video was created to inspire young African-Americans not to fall prey to some of the problems they face in society. The use of the voice "Master of Darkness" represents evil, which is where the blame of all problems should be placed, and not on any one group of people. This video should not to be used to divide people (Black & White), there are images of heroes that are white in this video, and there are images of Black & White coming together with the words of Dr. King in the background. Some of the images from the past can be unsettling, but they are used to show all Americans how far we have come, and how far we still have to go. This film is being strategically placed in school systems, churches and youth orgs around the country, in hope of helping a lost generation of kids that we as Americans have forgotten. As fellow Americans we must continue to love each other, and take that love and spread it to the rest of the world. **THIS VIDEO IS NOT FOR SALE & I AM NOT ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR THE FILM, I ONLY WANT THE MESSAGE TO REACH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT ANY HIDDEN POLITICAL OR FINANCIAL AGENDA.
Sitting On the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding
"The time for sitting is over! The time for action is now! The time for hope without action is hopeless! The time for change without a positive attitude is a change that we can't believe in! We need change that is positive of helping all people! Our time for action is now, our time for hope is now, our time for change is now and our time to believe that we can do whatever we set our minds to is not now but right now!"
STAR SPANGLED BANNER
The Star-Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key
O say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming;
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?
On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, now conceals, now discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream;
'Tis the star-spangled banner; O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave,
From the terror of flight and the gloom of the grave;
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave!
O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land,
Praise the power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just.
And this be our motto— "In God is our trust; "
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.
Black President
Our Time is not now but Right Now! Our Time has finally come to change the world not now but Right Now! If you don't believe that we can change the world than watch as we do it by changing your mind into believing in us and what we can do! This is OUR TIME RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!
FIGHT THE POWER
We got to FIGHT THE POWER! We can no longer sit on the sidelines and watch injustices take place. We can no longer sit by and allow our right to vote to become unexercised. We must FIGHT THE POWER for our past, present and future! We can no longer allow our rights to be oppressed and our voice to become drained by the powers at be. We must FIGHT THE POWER and show that we have a lot to say that needs to be heard by the mainstream media. We must FIGHT THE POWER and live up to our potential as dynamic, unbelievable and phenomenal people.
We must not believe the hype but we must become the hype. We are not Harriett Tubman, Marcus Garvey, MLK, Malcolm X, Booker T. Washington, Carter G. Woodson, W.E.B. DuBois, the Black Panther Party, SNCC, or any other activists but we are the fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, uncles, aunties, and relatives of those who came before us to pave the way for us to FIGHT THE POWER! We are not next Generation of leaders who will not be honored and praised until they die but that’s the fight we accept. We are not fighting the power for glory or fame but we are fighting the power for just causes that most men and women will not understand until years or decades later.
We are fighting for our sisters and brothers in Darfur, Georgia, Iraq, Iran, China and Mexico. We are speaking for those who are poor and have no food or water. We are fighting for those who are sick and dying. We are fighting for universal healthcare across the world and human rights for all people. We are fighting for rich and poor! We must FIGHT THE POWER no matter how hard and tough the road may be. We must FIGHT THE POWER for a better today and an even greater tomorrow!
FIGHT THE POWER!
PEOPLE GET READY
“People Get Ready” our time is coming! We have come too far to turn back now. Our train is coming and it is coming in waves. “People Get Ready”, we don’t need a ticket but we need faith and the Lord will help guide us as we take back America and the world. “People Get Ready” our moment is now and we are ready to see the change we want in America and the world. All we got to do is have faith, hope and prosperity. “People Get Ready” to face your fears. “People Get Ready” to face your demons and the challenges of yesterday because today and tomorrow we will conquer & be victorious. “People Get Ready” a change is coming and our actions will make sure that change is a real positive change that lasts forever.
“People Get Ready” because we have had enough of just talking but now is our time to show action. “People Get Ready” to take back America and the world. “People Get Ready” to take back our communities and to make our streets safer and schools better. “People Get Ready” to make all our dreams come true. “People Get Ready” to see a better present for everyone and a better future for future generations. “People Get Ready” to live up to your potential and to help others live up to their own potential. “People Get Ready” to move past hatred, bigotry, racism and sexism. “People Get Ready” to fulfill the dreams of those who came before us and those who will come after us.
“People Get Ready” as we make our actions speak louder than our words. “People Get Ready” to make words mean something again as we put action to back up our rhetoric. “People Get Ready” as we embark on a new journey that will re-write America’s history as well as the world’s history. “People Get Ready” as we make the lives of others better and the lives of future generations better. “People Get Ready” because all we need is faith, hope and action to make this world a better place. “People Get Ready” to make a difference. “People Get Ready” to fulfill the American dream. “People Get Ready" to live out the American Dream as our founding fathers wanted us to live it. “People Get Ready” because our time is now, our moment is now and our moment in time to change America & the world is not now but right now. “People Get Ready” because a change is coming!

(Let me tell you now)
People get ready, there's a train comin'
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels hummin'
You don't need no ticket, you just thank the lord
[Lyfe]
People get ready, for a train to Jordan
Picking up passengers coast to coast
Faith is the key, open the doors and board them
There's hope for all among those loved the most
[Alicia]
There ain't no room for the hopeless sinner
Who would hurt all man kind just to save his own (believe me now)
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner
For there's no hiding place against the kingdoms throne
[Alicia & Lyfe]
So people get ready there's a train coming
You don't need no baggage, you just get on board
All you need is faith to hear the diesels humming,
You don't need no ticket, you just thank the lord
“PEOPLE GET READY!”
